We bought the "OneTouch Jar Opener" as a gift for my mother since she was having problems opening jars due to arthritis. I was somewhat uncertain that this was going to be a long term solution since the unit does not look all that solid and it makes a lot of noise as it works, but it seems to be holding up well after a week of almost daily use.
We had bought the Black & Decker JW200B Lids Off Jar Opener, Black for my mother-in-law a year or two ago and that worked well, but took up too much counter space for my mother's house.

I got this for my mom as a gift - and she loves it. This product is as cool as it seems - opens up those hard-to-open jars! Simple to use - just line it up, push the button, and wait for the little thing to open jars for you!
Two minor complaints:
(1) The battery cover is inefficiently made - could be smoother to open and close it. Not a big deal since you won't need to change the batteries all that often.
(2) It should have an on/off power switch - because the one button you need to touch is so big - that it's easy to accidentally activate the jar opener when you don't mean to. A small power switch would solve this problem easily.

I bought mine at CVS. Put in fresh batteries. Tried to open a can of tuna. It cut for a couple of seconds, then died. I followed the directions, including those for how to remove it, if it got stuck. It wouldn't remove. I ended up throwing it out, because I didn't want to take a stinky can of tuna back to the store. I did tell them, and they did not offer to reimburse me. No more, AS SEEN ON TV products for me. Twenty dollars thrown into the trash along with my tuna.Customer Review: Buying another one

I am in Amazon today to buy a replacement for the One-Touch Jar Opener that my wife bought (somewhere) and it finally broke. I don't use it, but she gave it 5 stars, and demands it be replaced. ("yes, dear"). I don't know how long she has had it, but evidently long enough that she didn't complain that it didn't last. I'll buy two this time, because if it is something she depends on this much, I had better have another one on the shelf on 'stand by', ready to go.Customer Review: Pretty Cool

This thing is really cool. Although it's not fast it works really well with everything I've tried it on. It's amazing how much power it has.
So far it's kept my wife from saying "Will you open this for me please?"
The only reason I haven't rated it a 5 is because I haven't used it that long and can't attest to it's longevity. It appears solid and well built and, if it lasts, then it's a five.
