Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of One Touch Automatic Jar OpenerCustomer Review: mixed feelings Summary: 3 Stars
1) the battery cover was REALLY poorly designed. it's hard to open the cover and place back. the two AA batteries go in harder than one would expect. one battery comes out easily, but the other one is *really* difficult to remove. this product was meant for people with finger/hand arthritis, exactly the type of people who are going to have trouble with this battery system. it's possible someone will have to change the batteries for the end-user, depending on the finger strength and dexterity of the end-user. wow, not the kind of issue you ever expect when you buy a product in the 21st century...
2) it's fairly (but not very) strong and it opens the majority of jars well, albeit slowly. it's not so strong that it can open jars that an average healthy young person with a decent grip can't. it just slips off. this device is meant for people with *very* weak grips to help them open non-stuck or "kind of stuck" jars, where it could be a big help. it won't help a person too much if they have mild arthritis and are only unable to open the really tough jars.
3) "one touch" is more like a somewhat prolonged push. once you get used to it, no big deal.
Customer Review: Junk - bought two - broke two Summary: 1 Stars
As a "Family" Christmas present, we bought the "one Touch Jar Opener" and the "One Touch Can Opener.. We used the jar opener a few times and it worked ok. No Problems.
Then on about the fourth time we used it, the darn thing broke. Parts literally snapped off. Since it was an inexpensive item, rather than go thru the hassle of returning it I just went to Wal-Mart and bought another.
I looked it over, everything seems OK. What do I know, I wasn't in China when it was made. And,this time, I am going to watch it very carefully. I will put it on a jar that should open relatively easy. It buckeled and snapped and a part broke off. Didn't open the jar at all. Didn't even loosed it. So I opened it with my hands. It was stiff, but the whole idea is to have a tool to do those chores for me.
Piece of JUNK
However, the "One Touch Can Opener" has been working faithfully for two years. We use it on a daily basis. During baking season we use it 10-15 times a day and no problem.
Customer Review: Jar Jammer Summary: 4 Stars
With the massive success that One Touch had made with the definitive can opener, they really cornered the market on how to make great products that make our lives a bit easier to master in the kitchen. After the way of keeping cans under control, many have wanted to find a might easier way to open jars, without splattering all the things from the jar apilling all over you or the floor. It is easy to setup, with a pair of AA batteries installed, and you can easily open jars with a push of the button. While it does the job well at openeing jars well, like the One Touch Can opener, it wastes a lot of energy after a few uses, and you'd constantly have to change the batteries. Still, One Touch Jar Opener does a much batter job at getting the jars open than those other more expensive jar openers from Black & Decker or others. I really recommend the One Touch Jar Opener as a great buy for your household.

Customer Review: Amazing Summary: 5 Stars
There is nothing harder to open than a jar of dill pickle spears!
Luckily, my constant companion had purchased a One Touch Jar Opener, and after much grunting and groaning, I decided to try the One Touch Opener.
I have never again opened a jar by muscle power!
A short while thereafter a friend of ours was complaining of her difficulty opening jars due her arthritis. I purchased one for her as a gift. Pretty soon I realized, to be fair within the family, I also purchased a One Touch Opener for my sister, my companion's daughter, and a friend of hers (and ours of course); all as presents.
They were as happy as if I gave them a diamond ring!
The One Touch Jar Opener had given them greatly appreciated relieve from the pain of arthritis in manually opening jars.
I was pleased to purchase the One Touch Jar Opener on their behalf.

Customer Review: Pickle Jars of the World, Beware! Summary: 5 Stars
After 45 years of relying on my husband to open jars, I am no longer a tight-lid codependent. ONE TOUCH JAR OPENER works on big and wide pickle jars, mid-sized jars of apple sauce, slim jars of salsa, and any other jars I need to open.
Do not be put off by criticism of the opener's "slowness," for its careful operating speed is a safety feature. The cushioned outer jaws clamp slowly and softly onto the jar, so the glass is in no danger of breaking. The similarly cushioned inner jaws likewise clamp gently onto the lid, leaving it free of dents or bends, and thus usable for recapping the opened jar.
For less than $20, treat yourself to this enabling device. And if you have any senior and/or manually challenged friends or relatives, enable them, too.
