Good stone - This is a half inch thick throughout with some even thicker "feet" in its mold also. I'm happy with the size, thickness and results. It arrived in one piece even though the temps outside were below zero fahrenheit - I was a bit worried it would have cracked due to some other reviews. I let it sit in the box overnight, at least a good eight hours, maybe twelve, so it could warm up and then I used it. I can get 3 or 4 naan or pita on it at one time and 2 personal size pizzas. Make sure you preheat your oven to 500 degrees F to get a crisp crust on pizza.Customer Review: Great for pizza

What is there to say abut something as unglamorous as a stone except that it does its job extremely well. What makes the best pizzeria pies much better than home baked ones is the crispy underside and tender upper side to the dough. To do this requires a quick bake in a very hot oven and a mean to draw the moisture from the bottom of the crust. We accomplish this by baking in our outside closed BBQ and the baking stone. The higher temperatures and baking stone makes the best home made pizza we have ever made and better than most store pizza's. Highly recommended.Customer Review: Old Stone Oven Baking Stone

The first Old Stone Oven Baking Stone that I ordered through Cook's Direct via Amazon.com arrived broken. It had been shipped in the original box the stone comes in which is not sufficient for UPS type shipment. However, my money was refunded without problems. Instead I then purchased the same item directly from Amazon which packed the original box into another box with plenty of peanuts. It arrived in fine condition.
As for the Stone itself it truely is a great cooking utensile and makes a not crispy crust pizza. I highely recommend using it.

I've heard nothing but good things about this product, but unfortunately I wouldn't know first-hand since the item arrived here broken two times! Both times the stone came in the original box- no problems there. However, this box was placed in a larger box with almost no padding. Also, this outer box was not labeled as "fragile." As a result, I've received two terribly broken stones.
It seems like some people have had good luck ordering this product from Amazon so maybe I've just had bad luck. Either way I won't be ordering it online again!

Mine arrived today, Feb 09 2011. Triple boxed with lots of packaging so it was fine. I just added a photo above of the bottom of it. Look for the last picture with the "feet" side (underneath) showing and you'll notice that instead of 4 small 'feet' in the center area like the older ones had, they now have a large square block. I'm not sure but I believe this might help the problem with them cracking. Also maybe cook the center of your pizza better? Just a guess. I haven't started using it yet so I'll update this review when I have an opinion.
