I was helped in choosing this pizza stone by the hundreds of online reviews and suggestions posted by people from all over. Well, they were all right. Excellent item. I bought two stones and used them simultaneously for the first two homemade pizzas of my life... DELICIOUS! As others have suggested, I never remove the stone from the oven, and lately I just placed a pan containing the dough for an olive focaccia and it came out perfectly done. I am convinced that the stone works its magic also when not used to bake directly on it. I am extremely happy so far and I'd highly recommend this item. Buon Appetito!

I bought this stone because my pizza was often crispy on the edges but not so crispy in the center... this pizza stone solved all my "crust frustrations"!

CONS: Takes a long time to heat up (but this is the same with all pizza stone...). Also, they say to store it in your oven so that it is always ready. However, it does absorb ALL oil and grease that may splatter when cooking other foods...our looks not so clean now and we have only used it for pizza twice! So remove it from the oven if you don't mind lifting it every time (it's a little heavy).

Otherwise, great buy!

Customer Review: Pizza Stone- can't get crispy crust on the 14X16 Old Stone

Apparently this pizza stone takes a lot longer to get up to temperature. When I make pizzas on my old, round pizza stone, I get nice crispy crusts. This is not so with my new 14X16 Old Stone. I don't know how long the oven should be at 500 degrees before I would actually get a crispy crust but this is unsatisfactory because I don't like the oven on at that high a temperature for a really long time. I would not buy this stone again. However, I wish that the round ones that are available on the market would be made in a larger size which is the reason I bought the Old Stone pizza in the first place.

This was my first pizza stone. This was the shape I was looking for, square not round, and simple. Buyers should know that it is very heavy, if they have never used a stone of this size before. Like other buyers, I had intended to keep it in my oven at all times when cooking other things, however, it does take the oven a lot longer to pre-heat with the stone in it, so I end taking it out when I am heating something up quickly. The stone also stains very easily, so it is not as neat in appearance as I would like, but I think it is a good simple stone all around and am glad I bought it.

I use this for everything from pizza to artisan breads. The size is perfect for me as it can accommodate a relatively large pizza or two to three loaves of bread. Do not be afraid of some staining as this will occur from grease and oils. This will not affect the stones abilities at all! There are directions included on how to clean the stone when needed; however, I prefer the oven to do the work. Most things simply burn off and can easily be scraped off with a spatula. My breads have never turned out better and reheated pizza tastes like it was just freshly made.
