This is my second garlic crusher. The first was a Zyliss brand that I bought through Amazon. It did not last very long. First we lost the small cleaning tool and then the finish began to chip, presumably because of repeated runs through the dishwasher.
This garlic crusher still looks like new and has withstood daily trips through the dishwasher without a problem. It works flawlessly and I never smash my finger between the handles like I did with our previous crusher. It effortlessly produces perfectly sized crushed garlic AND has withstood the test of time. So far I have not bought an Oxo kitchen product and regretted it.

I am very happy I purchased this garlic press! I bought it over a month ago and use it almost daily. I had been using the Pampered Chef/Zyliss one for years -the same one that is still sold; although it worked, the coating had come off through usage and inevitably had gotten into the food. This Oxo Garlic Press offers more room to place the garlic and presses with ease. It even presses out the garlic more efficiently. Also, I don't have to worry about adding toxic chemicals to our food, given it is stainless steel. Lastly, the garlic skin remover works great. Buy this one! I've had this garlic press for several years after attempting to use a plastic one. I'd gotten so frustrated with the plastic one that I had started buying the chopped garlic they sell at the supermarket.
This one is nice and heavy and cuts through the garlic beautifully. Since it takes little effort to chop the garlic with this little darling, it's great on the hands... and of course, OXO has a reputation for making ergonomically sound kitchen devices.
It's very sturdy so plan on getting years of use out of it... it also withstands the dishwasher quite well.

I have always been annoyed by the difficulty with cleaning my old garlic press, so I decided to upgrade my own press when I was online buying a wedding present. This is a great quality press and it cleans up so easily. The only drawback for some people with small hands might be the weight and thickness of the handles. However, it presses easily and smoothly, so for most hands that might not be a problem at all. The gadget I bought at the same time that I really love is the silicone garlic peel remover. It is so fun to use. I have to stop myself from peeling more garlic than I need!Customer Review: Best garlic press I've owned.

This is the third garlic press I've owned. The one I just replaced was a Zyliss. That one was teflon-coated, and when you take your knife to scrape off the garlic, some of the teflon goes with it.
Anyway, this is heavy, attractive, and easy to clean. I just give it a quick rinse under the water while flipping around the pokey-things to press out the remaining garlic, and it rinses away beautifully. It has a large chamber, and it can hold several cloves of garlic in a single pressing.
What more can I say? If you get this one, you won't be disappointed.
