Looks like some poor devil put the brushed finish on this thing with a piece of sandpaper. Honestly, it's not the usual nice quality you expect from OXO.
The other reviews are so good... maybe they moved the factory, and a new group of underage indentured servants are making them now.
In any case, it's going back to Amazon.

I have bought the cheaper bottle openers and got tired of them not piercing an adequate opening and bending. I kept saying I was going to buy a good opener on Amazon.
I did, the OXO. This opener is great; it's sharp, large openings and not too big. Yeah, it cost a little more but it will be in my silverware drawer for a long long time.

I found this opener packaged in massive amounts of paper and protection... good thing because when i took it out of all its wrapping it was SHARP! At least I'm sure tat it will be able to pierce cans. I've had the cheap ones in the past before as well and I'm excited to have a good looking opener. It seems almost silly to expound on a bottle/can opener, yet having had so many cheap ones that worked poorly, it is a pleasure to sing the praises of one that does what it is supposed to do, and does so superbly. I have had this for several months and wipe it down after every use and put it on my magnetic knife bar.
Well recently I noticed there is rust on it. As this was never left wet or put through the dishwasher I think the quality of the stainless steel must be very bad. Besides that this works very well.
