I read a lot of the reviews on amazon. I decided to purchase this gadget at my local target. I didn't quite know what to expect. I was amazed by how crisp my lettuce came out. I eat a lot of salads and I was thinking this would help me cut my time in half in preparing salads. It really does.
I read on another review that said to let salad spin once, then empty out the water, then spin the lettuce again and voila my salad and other veggies come out crisp.
GET THIS! TRUST ME IT WILL SAVE YOU TIME.

This was a gift from my in-laws and I was thrilled to have new salad spinner. I have always had those really old cord ones.
Initially it worked really well, but it is hard to clean. You have to disassemble the lid, and it appears the more you do that, the more goes wrong. Eventually the whole thing just stopped working and the lid wouldn't stay together.
The older-style pull-cord spinners have fewer parts to break and are easier to clean. Get a Zyliss instead.

The large spinner does exactly what it says it will - a great salad dryer, and doesn't mush things up as some do. It does not skid on the countertop or tip easily, either, when you start a spin.
I'm very happy with this (as was the individual who used it for the first time) - it's well-built and solid, easy to use, and stores any leftovers very nicely (take out the mesh basket first and lock down the spinner button and there you have it!)

My inner basket to the spinner warped after one cycle through the dishwasher. Before critical reviewers try to flame me for improperly washing the unit, it's advertised as dishwasher safe on the top rack. I routinely wash many other plastic items in my dishwasher, and this is the only problem I've ever had with any item I've washed. I have several other OXO products, and I never would have expected OXO to cut corners with their materials.Customer Review: Great Salad Spinner

We bought the small salad spinner while we were living in NYC. With extremely limited space, this spinner doesn't take up much room and works perfectly! The push button is easy to use and more convenient than the spinners where you pull the string. 2 1/2 years later and this salad spinner still works! When we decide to upgrade to the larger size, we may try the steel salad spinner... The OXO salad spinner is a great investment!
