I love this "little" salad spinner! A regular one is too big for fresh herbs from the garden, so I had to "hand dry" when I'd pick from the garden. Now that my kids are getting older and some have left home, I find that my regular salad spinner is just to big for salad fixings for just 2 or 3. It's so convenient to just pop a little bit in and spin. I have a mini food processor I keep on my counter, and since I purchased this I keep it on the counter too. Anyone with a garden, and in this economy you almost need one, should own this! I wish I'd had one years ago. A great gift for the new couple just starting out, empty-nesters who are down-sizing, college kids with their own apartment... And easy to use - I have Lyme disease arthritis, which affects my hands. I can use this with no trouble. Easy push spin, instant stop button, convenient size, stays still on the counter when spinning (the only thing to improve it would be to add non-slip surface to the bottom) -- after I got it, and used it, I went right back online and got 2 more - one for my newlywed daughter (perfect for salads for 2) and one for my mother, who lives alone and has alot of trouble with her hands. I have to agree with the reviewer that mentions they really hadn't bothered much with fixing salad at home until this great product arrived. This is priceless. I bought the larger size and was able to wash and store 2 good sized bunches of romaine lettuce. Cleaning lettuce used to be such a chore and no matter how many paper towels I wasted, the lettuce never really felt dry enough- there was always residual water on the leaves- YUK! Who wants to wipe down each individual leaf? Not me!
Simply tear apart the leaves into what ever size you want, then rinse the leaves right in the strainer portion, put it into the main bowl, locked the little slide and give it a few pumps and PRESTO- nice clean and dry lettuce ready to use. If your refrigerator allows for the space, you can leave the remaining lettuce in the unit for future use- How much easier can it get?
I find we are now enjoying being able to have more salads at home thanks to this incredible device- Have to give it 5 stars for making my life easier and healthier! A very worthwhile product.

This is a great product. I eat salads everyday (sometimes 2 times a day.) I was having such a hard time getting all of the water out of my lettuce after cleaning and rinsing it. This product works excellent, it is sturdy and well made. I am very happy to have found this product, it was well worth the money. (I would have paid more.....a great product.) If you eat alot of salad, or if you eat salads occassionally this product is a must for you. The lettuce will last a lot longer if you clean it and then spin it. After I spin it I wrap the lettuce in a paper towel and put it into an OPEN zipper bag. (I clean, spin and put lettuce in bag the day I buy it from the store.Makes it stay fresh and it makes it easy to make a salad because lettuce is ready to go each time you need it.) Before I had the spinner, Even though I eat salad everyday I was still having to throw away lettuce due to it going bad (in a week) Water is the enemy. If lettuce is wet it will go bad fast. Get this and have fun with your salads and NEVER throw any lettuce away again.Customer Review: A MAJOR Disappointment!

I purchased this spinner on the strength of all the positive reviews. Yes, I read the negative ones too, but didn't see how all those folks who wrote glowing reviews could be wrong. Well...I'm thinking differently now.
This is a spinner that simply won't spin unless the load is balanced just so. Most of the time, when I push down on the spin pump, I get a whole lot of resistance and a few weak twirls. The pump behaves pretty much like the brake.
Frustrated, I retired this spinner quickly and purchased the large Zyliss Easy Spin Salad Spinner---the kind with the pull string. Works like a charm. I am happy to report that I HAVE found a use for this OXO spinner, however. When I buy grapes, I wash them and spin them in the Zyliss, then store them in the OXO. The mesh basket keeps air circulating around the grapes, and they don't go bad as fast as they have with other storage methods I've tried. I've given the spinner 2 stars instead of 1 simply because it does serve this worthy purpose in my kitchen.

I've never had/used a salad spinner before this, so I don't really have anything to compare it to except for the good ol' fashion manual method.
I just received this in a Christmas gift exchange and so far am pretty happy with it. I used it for the first time today to dry some freshly washed vegetables (broccoli, carrots, and bell pepper) and it worked quite nicely. I like that the handle can be pushed down and locked allowing for easy storage in a cabinet with the ability to stack other dishes on top. Also, I like that the bowl and strainer are separate as it is nice to have an extra strainer in the house and allows for easy emptying of the bowl's contents.
The reason I give it only 4 stars is 3 fold:
1: As with everything else these days, this item is made in China.
2: I felt that $24.95 for a kitchen tool was a bit steep, especially considering it is made in China.
3: I've only used the product once and cannot attest to its long term durability.
