At first I thought it was working.It was never at zero when I 1st turned it on so I would have to zero it out before placing anything on the scale.That should have been my 1st clue that this was going to end badly. I was measuring small amounts of dried herbs. Did seem to be a little inconsistent.The following day I was making a special Sunday meal for my family and the scale would not measure over 7oz It woiuld error and shut off. I did a lot of research and thought this was the scale for me I am very disappointed and I am contacting OXO today because the manual says satisfaction guaranteed (we will see). The size of the scale is nice and the pull out screen works well.Would not recommend this scale!!!!Customer Review: Took 2 of them back to the store

I bought this scale - twice. They both had the same problem. When I was weighing something out gradually, like vegetables that I slice up bit by bit, the display would turn off after a while. It shouldn't do that, because there were only a few seconds delay between putting things on the scale.
But worse, I would press a key to try to get the weight back, and the scale would come back with a weight of 0! Rather than saving the weight as it's supposed to. It didn't matter which key I pressed, the same thing would happen.
Were the batteries low? It should give me a message about low batteries. I didn't try it with my own new batteries, rather than the ones that came with it.

This product is very convenient and easy to use and I could just use it easily right away. The buttons are functional and simple to figure out. You can easily switch between ounces and grams with the press of a button. Also love that you can add an item, get the measurement and then zero it out with the press of a button to add the next item and measure it. I use saran wrap on it to keep the food from gunking it up; when I put that on there it gets measured, but I just zero it out and I'm ready to add the food. And I always use the light up display feature. The numbers are big too so I don't have to grab my glasses. I have searched for a kitchen scale for a long time and I have never found one superior to this one. Most electronic scales will only weigh five pounds; this one will weigh eleven, which is handy if you're adding ingredients to a heavy glass mixing bowl. The zero (tare) feature saves you a lot of mental math as you add successive ingredients and the pull out display with its very bright back light makes it unnecessary to squat down and peek under what you're weighing to see it. It displays grams or ounces, has a stainless steel tray that you can remove for cleaning, shuts itself off if you forget, and I don't know what more I could ask of a kitchen scale than all that.Customer Review: Weigh Cool

OXO's newest addition to the kitchen counter is this well-designed, practical food scale. The pull-out display makes sense if you have ever used a scale and cannot see the readout with a large container on top. As cool as the design is, the scale is extremely accurate, so much that we use it for a postage scale at home, and it weighs anything from an envelope of under one ounce, to a good sized package for the mail (up to 11 pounds). Weighing ingredients in food is the European way of measuring while cooking, and so much more accurate than volume measurements. Of course it is bi-lingual so you may measure ounces or grams, and it is perfect for converting European recipes
