Oxo Good Grips makes some interesting kitchen gadgets, but I think this is not one of their finest efforts. Something about the blade - it's flexibility, the serrations, I'm not sure exactly what - make it work less effectively than it should. I got better results with the hard plastic cheapie shrimp tools, although I'm sure this should last longer.
Mine got warped in the dishwasher, so I'm trying the Cuisinart next.

These gizmos make cleaning shrimp much quicker and easier. I'd been using some cheap plastic ones sold by my grocer, but the tips kept snapping off in the drawer or in use. I decided to order an OXO, as the quality of their other products has in my experience always been high. It's better than the cheapo ones, but I was disappointed that the tip is plastic rather than stainless steel, and it could be longer.Customer Review: Great tool for a messy job!

I love OXO things anyhow. But this one proves WHY. The fat rubbery handle is easy to hold, doesn't slip. The curve and serrations are designed just right. I had to clean several pounds of shrimp. The thought of doing it buy just my fingers was depressing. I checked AMAZON.com for "shrimp deveiners" and this (among other) tool showed up. Boy, a worthy tool at a very reasonable price!Customer Review: Great Product!

I bought 2 of these for a party my friend and I were going to throw. We peeled and deveined 12lbs of shrimp in less time that I thought it would. This gadget takes some getting used too, I mangled the first 3-4 shrimps I tried, but it was smooth sailing after that. I would definitely recommend this product!

The Oxo shrip tool allowed me to prepare approxamately 5 pounds of tiger prawns in half the time it would normally take. The comfortable grip allowed me to work quicker and longer, while the thin yet sharp blade made removing shell and deveining a cinch. Bravo to Oxo!!
