Customer Review: Accurate and Easy to Read

I'm on my second OXO oven thermometer. The face on my first one cracked somehow making it difficult to read, so I purchased a different, cheaper brand thermometer to replace it.
Before I threw out the cracked OXO, however, I put both thermometers into the oven to test for accuracy. Either they were both accurate, or both inaccurate the the exact same degree. I'm going to assume accuracy.
After several months of using the new one, I gave up. It had a solid face, making it impossible to read with the oven door closed. It was a great idea on the part of OXO to make it out of translucent glass. It is very easy to read with the oven light on.
My only complaint is how it attaches to the oven rack. As someone else mentioned, if you bump it with your pan, it will fall off. If they would fix that, it would be a five-star item.
Description of OXO Good Grips Oven Thermometer
The large numbers are easy to read, and made even more so by the frosted glass back panel which allows light from the back of your oven to shine through. A clip permits you to hang the gizmo from an oven rack, or if you prefer you can stand it on top, where the clip will hold it securely.Track baking temperatures with precision, using this clip-on Good Grips oven thermometer from Oxo. Designed to attach to an oven rack either above or below, the sturdy dial-face unit lets you gauge when your oven is ready or whether the temperature has dropped. The clip and casing are made from stainless steel, and the face is frosted glass so oven light shines through for easy reading. Calibrated for accuracy, the thermometer displays both the Fahrenheit scale (200 to 500 degrees) and the Celsius scale (100 to 300 degrees). The dial is a convenient bright red and tapers to a narrow point. In position, the thermometer measures 3-1/4 inches high by 2-3/4 inches wide. Washing by hand is recommended. --Emily Bedard
