I purchased this to replace a 20 yr.old plastic spinner with a crank-top. I wanted to upgrade b/c the plastic was getting stained and looked terrible plus I wanted to try this push-down type that had such good reviews. Works just ok, here is what I do not like about it- * clear plastic top cracked after just a few times using for no apparent reason,although I can still use it there was no reason for this as it was not dropped or misused *the push down mechanism does not create much of a spin and i find i need to push down MANY times to get the lettuce dry enough, my old crank spinner really spun and the greens were much drier without so much effort, * the top is a two layered plastic with an open space between the layers which is impossible to dry, so i end up putting it in the cupboard with it still wet from using, i don't know why but this bothers me... also it is very hard to place the interior basket inside the outer bowl correctly, it needs to be on just right or it doesn't work, need to keep adjusting in all this looks great .. but my old white plastic 20 plus year old one worked much better...... For some reason i seem to have bad luck with the oxo brand, i know they get great reviews but i have purchased several and have always been unhappy for some reason, i don't know why i keep trying. I bought some black plastic measuring spoons and cups and within 6 months the area which said what size it was totally smudged off so you did'nt know what size they were. and they were much for expensive than a cheap metal set.
