This is a fantastic box grater. The construction is solid, the cutting surfaces adequate in size, and it's sharp. We grate a lot of cheese and use our grater a often. Both my wife and I noticed immediately how well this one works. The non-slip gasket around the bottom lip makes it very steady during use and the little box with cap makes storing any extra cheese a snap, although we almost never have any! The easy grip handle is very comfortable to hold. It is a pretty simple device so it is hard to wax poetic, but this is an excellent product. I am quickly becoming a big fan of Oxo kitchen tools.Customer Review: Good grater

This just arrived and worked well with parmesan cheese. You will still need to grate over a plate (even when using the measuring box) because some of the cheese will still fly off the grater and onto the counter. I suppose that could be a slight problem with measuring but as long as you don't mind tossing all that in at the end I suppose it's fine. It doesn't make me personally regret the purchase at all. Nothing is perfect and I can't imagine a design that would eliminate that without being twice as large, which I wouldn't want. My husband bought this for me for Christmas because my old, cheapo grater was rusty and barely worked so I tossed it long ago. I have been using a microplane and that just doesn't tackle every job that a box grater does. Last night I broke out the new Oxo grater with the handy container at the bottom. I grated two bricks of cheese for a three-cheese fondue for New Years Eve. Wow -- this worked beautifully and quickly. Plus everything was stored nicely in the container below the grater. Like other reviewers, I really didn't think I would have much use for the plastic container that comes with this grater, but I was wrong. Grating right into the container is so neat and easy. Then, if I don't use all of what I grated, I can just pop the lid on the container and toss it in the fridge.
I also really like the way the container fits up inside the grater for storage.
I've owned a few box graters over the years and this one is by far the best. (Oh yeah, it does a terrific job of grating too)

This is the sharpest grater on Planet Earth. No kidding...just ask my knuckles;-) Please keep a firm grip on your cheese and focus on what you're doing. Forget the game on the TV. Forget trying to have a conversation with your significant other while grating...especially if you're a guy and she's talking about to her mom's for the holidays. Just focus on the grating. I suspect my skin will grow back in about three weeks. Don't rush the grating either. Besides, if you've seen one game, you've seen them all.
