Customer Review: Works if half-full, not at all if more so

I used to use an old ceramic separator that worked really well, but it cracked and didn't hold much liquid, so I bought this Oxo separator. In general, I like Oxo products, so I had high hopes for this item. The fat naturally rises to the top in the cup, but I can't seem to pour off either the fat or the juices without both of them coming out of the cup together. I tried it on Thanksgiving day with the copious turkey drippings that filled the cup. When I tried to pour out the juice, it failed miserably, with the oil dripping all over. I emptied the cup halfway, thinking the problem was that it was overfilled, but that made no difference. Perhaps it would work better if the spout was not angled as high, to allow the juice to pour out before the fat reaches the top of the cup. I would not recommend this product at this time. Constructive suggestions welcome.
Update: A few weeks ago, I tried using this separator with juices from a baked chicken, a much smaller bird than a Thanksgiving turkey. With the cup only half-full, and with the stopper in while I filled it, it seemed to work. I'm not sure why it worked this time and not the first time, even after I had poured out half of the turkey drippings. I guess I'd recommend this product, but with reservations -- at least until I try it several more times.
Update II: I can now recommend this product. I tried it again with a roasted chicken, and it worked fine. I guess you just can't fill it more than 2/3 full at a time. Be sure to keep the stopper in while you fill it, then remove it once all the oil floats to the top. The stopper keeps the spout from filling up with oil.

Once the gravy has settled, remove the strainer and the stopper and pour out perfect gravy; a shield prevents fat from spilling over the top of the Separator.
