Customer Review: Cheap Plastic-Deceiving Advertising

After being inundated by the commercials on TV for this product, I was immediately enticed and ALMOST bought it. Thankfully I went to Consumer Reports and read all the terrible reviews. Consumer Reports did say that it cooked juicy meats, etc, but, two areas that were extremely discouraging to me-First and foremost, the plastic lid. Apparently it's made very poorly or w/cheap materials and the lids were reported to be cracking in multiple places, rendering the unit useless, or not as useful because of heat loss. One consumer reported that she finally used duck tape to repair cracks and lined the inside w/foil, after being told by customer service that it was her fault because she didn't clean the unit properly. The cracking of the plastic lid complaint was made by several consumers. Not to mention that plastics are not the healthiest for us. The second thing that discouraged me from purchasing this is the deceitful advertising. They advertise free express shipping, but, that's after you pay $30 shipping (for 9 lbs.). But, mostly I decided on a glass unit after reading several suggestions from unsatisfied buyers to steer away from this overpriced, not-well-made plastic top and to go w/glass. Please keep in mind that this just my opinion based on others' reviews, not on personal experience. One of the consumers suggested to go to Amazon, do a search for convection ovens, that I would find many more choices that offer glass lids, free shipping, etc. That is exactly what I did, and they were right! Thank you.
