Customer Review: Ok, for the price

I bought this from Kohls on black friday, I was a little suprised by how small it was when I opened the box. It took a bit of playing to make this work in a satisfactory manner. but now that I have figured it out, I am pleased with it for the price I paid (about $65 after rebate and Kohls Cash). It does a pretty good job of popping popcorn once you play around and get the mixture to your liking.
Making Popcorn:
First, I overload the kettle, I am not not necessarily recommending this, but I have 7 kids and need to make popcorn faster. I use Act II oil, salt and popcorn from Sam's club. When you buy it in that quantity it isn't as big of a deal if you waste some. Here is how I do it, I pour 1/8 cup oil, 1/2 tsp salt and just a bit less than 1/2 cup of popcorn in the kettle. It does spit out a lot of unpopped kernels, but the rest tastes very good, very close to movie theater. because the case and the included scoop are so small, I don't really use them, we have plastic popcorn containers which I kind of scoop with then while it is still on it's side, I push it full of popcorn using my hand. I find this way I hardly get any kernels in our containers. I get two containers from each batch which is about the equivalent of 1 bag of microwave popcorn. Since I start the next batch immediately I get about 3 minutes between batches which is just enough time to scoop it out and refill my measuring cups.
Cleaning:
Cleaning the first time took me an hour, I almost returned it because it was such a pain. I found a hint online in a review somewhere that really helped now it takes me just a few minutes. After I am done, I wipe the remainder of the kernels and other items in the bottom into the slide out kernel tray with a paper towel and dump it. Then I take a small cup of water and pour it in the kettle fill the kettle about 1.2 way. This can be tricky since it is tight in the cabinet. I run it for a little while until the water starts boiling good, the steam softens up the oil in the case, and I wipe it out with a few paper towels, Then I carefully remove the kettle and dump it then wipe it out with a few more paper towels takes about 10 minutes and it looks pretty good afterwards.
Overall, for a couple or a small family this isn't bad, as for me, I am already looking at which one I will replace it with, it is almost impossible to find the rated kettle size for this, but it is 2oz.
