Customer Review: Just Okay...
Summary: 2 Stars

First of all this popper is smaller than you would expect. I do see the measurements, but It still appears a bit small...
I have to agree, this popper is only okay and here's why.

The popper smokes quite a bit. I thought it was a "new" thing - but it continues to smoke. The stirer DOES bind up so you really have to keep an eye on it. It's also a bit awkward when adding popcorn and oil - the accessibility to the pan is off to the side making it a bit strange.

This popper does make great popcorn - but you can make great movie popcorn on your stove too with the right ingredients.

This machine is okay if you want the "this is cool" factor - but that's about it. I'm still trying to decide if I should return it - it just looks cool in our game room.

Overall I would not recomment this machine. Maybe another brand would be better.

And Yes, the doors and sides ARE plastic not glass and the metal is VERY thin. The scoop that comes with it is rather cheap and has some sharp edges, as does the cart door.

One other thing - the "warming light" is a simple light bulb - and it does not keep the popcorn warm at all.

Customer Review: Great nostalgic popcorn, great price
Summary: 4 Stars

My girls wanted a nostalgic popcorn machine "just like the one at their uncle's house" but I didn't want to spend $700+ for one. I did tons of research and finally purchased this one (at a wholesale store for $199) and think it is great. If you want the nostalgic look, but don't want to pay the price, this one is very easy to use and doesn't take up too much space. You can buy "theatre" popcorn kits for the 4 oz. machine online. Made popcorn at the first try and easy to clean. If you have ever used a whirlypop, it is basically the same thing without you having to turn the crank yourself. It is great for my kids, and I don't have to worry about them breaking a $1000 popcorn machine. If you just want something "fun," this is the one to get. Unfortunately, Nostalgic Electrics only makes a 4 oz machine, which means it doesn't pop any more than a good 4 (give or take) servings at a time...this could be the only problem for large families or gatherings, because it means you will have to make a few batches. When our kids grow up (and we can afford it), we'll upgrade to a more expensive 8 oz, but for $199, we are happy.

Customer Review: Popper WONT Pop
Summary: 2 Stars

At first this product was awesome! It makes great popcorn. However, after about 40 kettles of popping, the popcorn stopped poping out of the popper, and would sit in the kettle and burn. The manual has no help on how to solve the problem. I took the top off the machine and could not see any obvious issues.

Its very frustrating. Since it was under 90 days, we will be able to get a replacment from the store, and we have a long term warranty. Something tells me we will need it, because the motor and gears seem very indequate for a small family that pops 20 kettles a week for parties and sleep overs.

I haven't made contact with the company yet, if it is possable, but I will be researching a bettering gearing replacement option. I have read many posts similar to mine, and this company must do a recall, or they will be out of business.

Best wishes to all you Poppers.

Customer Review: Great Machine for the Money
Summary: 5 Stars

Bought this and put it together in about 1/2 an hour. It is really nice. Took me about 4 times to get the popcorn cooking right. First time, did not hook up the kettle to the top and it wasn't turning, so we had a burning problem. (Boy nothing worse than that burnt popcorn smell), 2nd time, the plug to the kettle was not in all the way, so we waited and waited and waited, and no popcorn. 3rd Time, I was not watching and the popcorn was popping so fast that it got clogged and started burning. 4th try...PERFECT...I bought the nap paks, but am going to try using Canola oil and a different popcorn. The Nap Paks are nice, but when the popcorn is cold, it tastes AWFUL. Only drawback is that it takes a little longer to clean than the microwave popcorn bag that you just throw away. Will be great for parties here at my house, as well as for carnivals that we have for the kids for our Sunday school.

Customer Review: This is a bottom-of-the-line machine
Summary: 1 Stars

When my first unit didn't work properly, I had it replaced, but the new unit was no better - it just doesn't pop very well.

I tried all kinds of different ideas to improve performance; I plugged the popper into different outlets, I weighted down the flip lids with quarters to prevent the kettle from spitting out unpopped kernels, I waited a long time to heat the unit, and then again to heat the oil before adding my kernels.

With all my experiments, the very best scenario still left 1/4 - 1/3 of the kernels unpopped. Also, the stirring mechanism jammed as popped corn collected under the stirrers.

There are other units available in the same price range with higher wattage that would probably work better.

This one certainly does look cool, but I will stick with my stovetop until I can find a better quality unit.
