This product works well except the plastic handle can (mine did) break when used over a pot large enough to need the handle to straddle the pot. I will admit that when it broke my dough was a little stiffer than usual, but I still think it broke too easily; and if you are using a smaller pot, like a saucepan, you won't have any trouble. (But who uses a small pot to boil noodles)? I think my replacement will be the NORPRO model 3129, which appears to be all metal. I was in the process of moving and could not find my old spaetzle hopper anywhere; I spotted this one for under $7 and figured it would be an acceptable substitute until I unpacked my house again. When I got it I immediately set to work making a batch of chicken spaetzle soup and decided that this spaetzle maker is even better than my old one (a rather odd contraption with a crank handle like a food mill). This has found a special place in my kitchen along with all of my other favorite gadgets!Customer Review: Outstanding

I just got this, so I can't comment on durability, etc. (but what do you want for the price). But it is outstanding for making spaetzle/knopfle. I love spaetzle, but usually don't make it b/c I always contrive to make a giant mess. But this thing is perfect. No mess, just whip up your batter, pour it in the hopper and away you go. There is a clip so it attaches to your pot, so no slippage. The spaetzle turned out beautifully. Whoever invented this type of design gets a gold star.Customer Review: Amazing!!

Tell me how I lived without this thing. REALLY easy to use. I wondered how well it would work, being such a simple contraption. I've used a couple of different dough recipes and so far so good. When you move that plastic thingy over the cheese grater part it really does push everything out. I guess thick dough might require hand pushing but hey, why spend more money? This one works great. I saw Emeril Lagasse use this spaetzle maker and I knew I needed it immediately. My mom used to make spaetzle and drop the dumplings by hand into the boiling beef stew and it was so time consuming but we loved to eat them. It was worth the wait. But alas, this tool doesn't make spaetzle as big as my mom's but the receipe that is included with this tool is just as good. I had fun using it and plan to order 2 more as Christmas presents.
