Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Norpro Pasta Drying Rack

Customer Review: Simple design, but very effective
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this pasta rack! Before I bought this pasta rack, I was forced to dry my pasta on the counter. I would sprinkle the counter with flour and then begin the layering of the pasta, the towels and the flour. In other words, it was a big mess. But now, since I bought the Norpro Pasta Drying Rack, pasta drying is a cinch and very easy to clean up. As soon as I roll out and cut the pasta dough, I simply drape it over the wooden dowels to dry. No flour, no towels, no mess. I usually make two lbs of pasta and have never run out of room on the rack. I know that the design is very simple and the wood is not the strongest on the market, but it really serves its purpose and serves it well.

Customer Review: Makes life easier!
Summary: 5 Stars

This pasta rack has changed the quality of my pasta. I have recently purchased a pasta machine and this rack is the perfect addition to it. I used to make the pasta by hand and have noodles laying all over my counters to dry but the these two items together have made making noodles a snap! I have added a photo (the second customer photo) so you can see how it looks when it is mostly full. I used 6 eggs to make my batch of noodles and still had room on the rack for more! It is very roomy. I also love how it breaks down so easily for storage and assembles quickly. I am going to get one for every person in my life that carries on the tradition of making homemade noodles!

Customer Review: Stinky
Summary: 3 Stars

When I opened the shipping box that my pasta rack came in, the brown stuffing paper smelled as if it sat in mold. The box inside smelled of mold and as I took the pasta rack out of its box, it smelled of mold. The pasta rack did not have visiable mold on it but it smelled terrible. I quickly had to trash the boxes. I put the wooden rack out side to air out. I really looked forward to getting this pasta rack and to use it. I only left the rack outside to air out for an hour or so. I stored it away until I used it the other day. I put my pasta on the rack and the pasta smells of mold. I like the rack and fun to use but the smell is very dissapointing.

Customer Review: Buy two if you make a lot of pasta
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the second Norpro drying rack that I have purchased. When I would make a batch of pasta, I would always roll the dough out first and stretch it across two dowels while I rolled out the rest. That way if it wasn't quite dry enough, it wouldn't stick together and it would dry just a bit more before cutting. Then I would change to the cutter and cut all of the rolled pasta. With only one rack, it meant that I could only put 4 wide strips of pasta on and I was looking for other places to put the rest.

Then I purchased a second rack and I have plenty of room for all of it. This rack is easy to use and easy to store.

Customer Review: good rack, with a caveat
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm not going to (essentially) repeat early reviewers praise.

Just a warning, do not clean the rack post or the dowel with water unless there is a reason you have to, especially not before use. The reason is when the wood is getting wet, it swollen a lot, making the holes on the post get smaller and the dowel get bigger.

So you have to push really hard to thread the dowel through the hole, this is not only difficult to do, but also, in doing so it drives the holes bigger. You will end up with a rack with very loose hole when the rack is dry.

See the previous post's complaint.
