Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Norpro Ice Pop MakerCustomer Review: great mold!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I was initially worried buying this after reading reviews but I have had such good experience with it I had to write. You have to snap the molds in one side at a time, (from front to back, not side to side) and no problem with the lid or sticks either, just let it warm a little to get the lid off. I've never had a problem with the sticks and we use this mold constantly. The molds snap off by rocking the mold back and forth, it gets better with time. We remove the pops by immersing 1-2 individual molds at a time in hot water in a 1-2 cup pyrex measuring cup for about 40 sec or so and it releases. I make jello pops for .9 cents each, dryers can't touch that. 1 sm. box jello,.52 cents 1 pkg unsweetened koolaid,.20 cents, 3/4 to 1 cup sugar,.18 cents, 2 cups hot water, 2 cups cold water, mix, until dissolved and pour into molds and freeze. We love it!!!!! 10 pops for 9 cents each. Try berry blue, strawberry, grape, watermelon w/invisalble kiwi watermelon koolaid), orange, lemon lime, lemon, black raspberry etc.. I have also frozen commercial yogurt in it, & don't recommend that because yogurt quickly loses it's flavor when frozen, so if you do I suggest adding fruit ar sweetened berry puree or something for taste. I hope this helps someone.
Customer Review: Norpro ice pop popsicle maker Summary: 5 Stars
Before I purchased I read the previous reviews; some of which were great and some not so great. But I decided I wanted this popsicle maker and I am definitely glad I did. For those who have had trouble getting the popsicles out of the mold, just make sure you don't fill the molds to the rim. Leave a little room at the very top for any expansion that may occur while in the freezer. Second, once the mold tray is frozen and you've taken out of freezer, tilt the mold on its side as to not allow water to run into the top portion of the mold and allow tap water to run over the outside. Then test one of the mold popsicles and try to wiggle the popsicle out of the mold with the stick intact. If it allows the entire popsicle to come out, then most others will follow. If not, try running more water over the outside of the mold again. It's pretty simple and what fun! I've made 2 different kinds and the recipes are endless. It's your imagination as to what to put inside the molds. Love this; thanks everyone else for your positive reviews.
Customer Review: Cool Product Summary: 4 Stars
We love this popsicle maker. However, we had some issues as first because wood popsicle sticks come in different sizes, and had some difficulty with the sticks sliding into and out of the lid slots. We now purchase the round paper popsicle sticks, and we punched round hole slots into a flat plastic lid of an empty retangle plastic box (can be found as most local stores)(and about the similar size as the original metal lid). We shove the round paper popsicle sticks into the flat plastic lid (we don't use the metal lid any more). The sticks then don't slide up or down, or tilt over, and it is fairly easy to remove them from the lid once the popsicycles have hardened. Of course, like most all popsicle makers, do set the bottom into warm water for a few seconds to release the popsicles, or just pour warm watter over the bottom. You might pour a little warm water over the plastic lid for a couple seconds if desired. We love this product, easy to make popsicles, we dont have to find the plastic handles laying around the yard, etc.
Customer Review: Happy with the product Summary: 5 Stars
I read all the reviews and ordered these popsicle molds because I wanted this shape mold, durable materials, and to make popsicles with wooden sticks (which I like the taste and feel better on my tongue than plastic). The reviews helped me to make the most of the molds and I am happy with the product, and have not found a better one for my needs.
So far the wooden sticks I have tried fit fine in the slots. I do use paper clips to help stabilize the wooden sticks so far because my freezer is in the garage and I don't have the attention span or energy to treck back out there to add popsickle sticks once the liquid starts to set. Then when they are all frozen I run water over the bottom of the molds to take out all the pops. I put the ones I am not going to be eating right away into a freezer bag with wax paper between the pops and put those back in the freezer. Then the molds are free to make the next flavours, and I have popsicles handy and ready.
Customer Review: Not so bad Summary: 5 Stars
I have 4 children and really wanted to start making some of my own more healthy version treats for them. I was a little nervous to purchase this product because of some of the problems other buyers have had. However, have made several batches of cycles now and really like it. I have had no problems with my sticks expanding and found clean up to be pretty simple if I rinse the mold out right away. I have only made thicker consistency treats (yogurt, pudding not juice) so maybe that is why my sticks have not expanded. I also did not soak the sticks in water prior to inserting them into the mold like the directions state, as that would of course cause them to expand. To hold the sticks in place I did use paper clips about 1.5 inches from the base. I also removed all 10 cycles and placed them in baggies with a twist tie on the end with the stick. Worked great. Thanks to other reviewers for their tips. :)
