The item arrived at my house before it was even listed as "shipped" in the Amazon order status system - very prompt service from DBROTH. It's only been here a week, but I'm already quite pleased with it. It is large enough to accumulate veggie/fruit trimmings for a week (for a 2-person household, anyhow), and there is no smell thanks to the filter.
My mom uses an old plastic ice cream pail for inside compost collection - she may be getting one of these for Mother's Day!

I ordered this because I hate getting something that needs replacement filters and not buying extras along with it. That way I know they are the correct ones. Well, I got the item as stated with no replacement filters. I'm so upset over this matter that I think no one should buy this since other places sell this at the same cost. This is the best one I've found anywhere. It's built well, looks nice, and doesn't smell, even when I haven't taken the contents out to the compost pile for a week.
Because the item's title says "composter", I should warn the less experienced that you cannot complete the compost process inside this bucket. This is a storage container used to hold scraps of food, so you don't have to run out to the back yard every time you eat a banana.

I read the previous reviews and thought I would get something more than a beautiful garbage can, but the compost keeper doesn't seem to be much more than that. It is not totally ordor free. I put in extra filters and that seemed to help along with a sprinkling of baking soda. But the compost keeper alone is not ordor free. Moreover, taking out and putting in filters is not a simple matter either.Customer Review: Very attractive , no smell, holds lots

I love this bin for my kitchen, it lasts 5 or so days in my household of three people. I have not had any problems with smells, the filter really works, or course there is a smell when you open it, but not as much as it would be without the filter. Looks nice enough that I don't mind it in view in my kitchen. It has a sturdy feel to it, I think it will hold up over time.
