Customer Review: Great alternative to As Seen on TV Pancake Puff Pan!

My 3 year old son convinced me to get this product after seeing the Pancake Puff add on TV. I wasn't ready to shell out 19.95 plus shipping for an experiment... so I searched around for an alternative. I bought this pan and have to say I was pretty impressed. Used regular pancake batter from a box and cooked them low and was PATIENT. I buttered the pan generously each time (actually used "smart balance spread") and they did not stick at all. Don't be fooled by poor reviews...this does give great results. The more batches I made the quicker they cooked and easier it became to flip.Customer Review: Smaller bites, but Works great---see the photos ive uploaded

this is not bad. it created batches of smaller like kind of pancake. the lodge brand created a bigger shell like shape. This one just has its 'twing'
I dont like to go on and describe my first time experience today-- see and believe, ive uploaded the pics here and in flickr.
I'd buy this if you're under budget and you want to create cute like pancake. it doesnt create those fuffy shell like---but its worth it!!!!!!
I love to cook so Im happy to have this in my collection. not preseasoned..so what i did my oil spray on it.

This pan is great for the price, the only thing you need to be sure and do IS SEASON IT PROPERLY!!!! if you do that and make a good batch then you will get a nice round tasty treat!! the shortening method is great, however i placed mine on the range (gas) and heated it up with veg oil for about 30 minutes poured it out and rubed it with a large wad of paper towels. let cool on the stove top and seasoned once more with a little butter. I use pam between each batch and have had NO issue of sticking. i found the bowl depth to be goodCustomer Review: It came covered in Rust!!!

Oh boy, was I disappointed in the way this came to me. I was excited to receive this product, because I had seen the Aebleskivers made on TV and wanted to try it myself. I knew this product would be on the small side, but that didn't matter.
I opened the box to find the bottom of the skillet covered in rust and part of the top. So disappointing! So, I had to go out of my way to figure out how to remove rust from a cash iron skillet. I was surprised that the company would have packed it the way they did.

This pan is by far the best value in an Aebelskiver pan. Resist the temptation to buy the one advertised on TV. The cast-iron construction of the Norpro pan makes it superior for cooking and durability. I made the little pancakes the day I got the pan using the recipe that came with it. How fun! And the possibilities for stuffed pancakes, both sweet and savory! Use a skewer to turn the pancakes to cook them on the top side. If you are considering an Aebelskiver pan - make it the Norpro!
