This is a great whimsical bacon press made of UNseasoned cast iron. I got this because I thought it would add whimsy and fun to the kitchen, and it is very cute.
I hoped to use it with my 9" cast iron skillet to cook bacon, but it doesn't fit the pan. It sits about 1/4-1/2" from the bottom of the pan. Of course I was bummed because the description says the product is 8.5", and, therefore, should have fit perfectly. Since I have already seasoned and used it- no, I did not check for size before doing this (lesson learned!), I cannot return it. I am forced to use this with my larger, stainless steel saute pan, which is OK, but I prefer cast iron for some tasks.
So, get this if you have a 10" skillet or griddle top. It'll add cuteness to your breakfast...or your 4pm bacon sandwiches!

The cast iron bacon press flattens the bacon, keeping it's shape for even cooking and the wooden handle stays cool while the press is in use.
