I just recieved this in the mail and I'm a little disappointed. Looks like something you would pick up at the dollar store. Only 6 3/4 inches long so not made for big pots, maybe just smaller ones. Looks to be made out of cheap plastic. Not at all pleased. Was going to give this for a gift but now I have to find something else to do with it. I cant give this to anyone as a gift! I just learned to can and am a bit clumsy, so often burned my fingers. This lid wand made lifting lids from the hot water soooo easy! I love it and use it frequently. I highly recommend it and bought one for each of my canning friends. It is a lightweight plastic with a magnet at the bottom. It is just strong enough to lift one lid at a time from the water. It is easy to clean and simple to store.Customer Review: a must have

Anyone that cans needs this tool. I can reach into the scalding water with this wand and pick up a lid, then place it on the can. Wow, no burns. It is a lot better than trying to fish out a lid with a fork (my old way). It helps to keep everything sterile while canning.Customer Review: Canning tool

This little gadget worked really well for me. I have used tongs in the past and this is much easier. Right out of the hot water onto the jar, real easy.
