Customer Review: Awesome - an inexpensive must have. Give EVERYONE one for Christmas

OK, I have had one of these things for many many years. A friend asked me where I got it a decade ago, and I could not remember. No problem - it's right here! We ordered three. It makes patties so easily, and they don't split around the edges or fall apart during cooking if you follow these tips. Tips: The directions say to press a meatball into a patty. I prefer to use the palm of my hand to force pack the meat into the outer edges of the press and then push out the patty. Forcing the meat around the edges by hand seems to help prevent the patties from splitting around the edges during cooking. Also, I grind my own meat (KitchenAid mixer attachment meat grinder - buy it), and if I don't knead the meat a little to sort of mush it up, the patties definitely fall apart more easily during cooking. Chefs are in shock that I just said that. Most disapprove of kneading the meat for texture reasons. Just knead it a little - don't go overboard. Grinding my own meat, I use extremely lean sirloin for flavor, and I add 10-12% pure white beef fat from the butcher. Add blue cheese if you like it. Make the best burger you ever have had at home - buy these by the dozen and give them to everyone (with these tips!) for Christmas. I love it to death.
