I had previously stored my garlic in a small earthenware jar next to the stove. The jar never seemed to keep garlic fresh for more then a few weeks and it could only hold 1 head.
This jar is great. I can fit 5 heads of garlic easily into this jar as it stands about 3" high (minus the lid) and 4" in width. I have it in the same location as the previous jar and it keeps my garlic fresh for months (purchased in 2010). My mom visited and loved it so much (beauty & functionality) that I bought her one as well. It has been cycled thru the dishwasher ~6 times now without chipping or paint fading.

I like to cook with fresh garlic, but found I was always having to throw extra bulbs away because they would go bad very quickly. I purchased this Garlic Keeper because it would go with the decor in my kitchen, but man it's amazing. I can put up to 4 bulbs of garlic in this jar and they last so long. It's right beside my stove, so I can grab my garlic whenever making my quick and tasty meals. It doesn't smell up the kitchen when being stored in this special jar, either. Well worth the investment, especially if you do a lot of cooking or preparing meals with garlic.Customer Review: LOVE MY GARLIC

I use a lot of garlic and prefer the cloves but I can't run to the store every time I need some so I usually buy three heads at a time. Unfortunately, it would go bad before I could use it up so I purchased the Norpro Garlic Keeper. It has saved me money by keeping my garlic usable for a long time. It is also a pretty addition to my kitchen counter and a conversation piece to those who see it. I'm very happy with this garlic keeper and suggest that anyone who cooks with a lot of garlic and has trouble keeping it fresh to purchase it. I owned a garlic keeper years ago and it somehow disappeared. I was so excited to see this Norpro Garlic Keeper that I snatched it up right away.
This is a great way to store garlic on the counter. The garlic is always handy when I am cooking and when I am not cooking the keeper sits there looking pretty.
It is smaller than the one I used to have, but it still holds about four heads of garlic. This will vary depending on the size of the garlic heads, of course. In case anyone is worried, no the house doesn't smell like garlic.

I'm really glad to have this garlic keeper. It's a perfect size. However, I purchased 2 keepers as gifts and they were both chipped. Amazon quickly replaced them even though I didn't expect them to. I had only filled out the exchange forms to find out what it would cost me to exchange them. Unfortunately, the replacements were badly chipped, also. So, I would highly recommend this garlic keeper, but ONLY if you can find it in a local store and that is why I'm only rating this with 3 stars. If it weren't for the chipped garlic keepers, I rate with 5 stars.
