Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Norpro 370 Bread Slicerand Guide with Crumb CatcherCustomer Review: Thank you Summary: 4 Stars
I have been making home made bread for my family for a few years now and the slicing has always been kind of off. LOL. This slicing guide helped me so much. I kind of jumped when I got it out of my mail box. rushed right in and put it together. They sent 5 screws but there is ony 4 screw holes.... sooo I guess I have an extra? There was no directions as to where the screws go but I managed to get it together. The one thing i wish was different my knife gets into the wood if i am not very diligent about keeping it from doing so. hopefully they will fix this. but for the price I can't imagine a better product that does as well. :) thanks Norpro.
Customer Review: Useless Junk Summary: 1 Stars
This product is so flimsy it would obviously break upon first use had it arrived intact, but it didn't. The wooden parts arrived broken - evidently they were supposed to be held together by some sort of glue, but either weren't or the wooden base was pretty well smashed while inserting it into the box. The plastic parts were obviously missing screws to hold them together. It can't work as intended because the design is so bad - the wood is just too flimsy.
This product is so bad that I will never buy anything from Norco, and recommend everyone avoid their products. Amazon should be ashamed of itself for offering such junk.
Customer Review: Don't waste your money Summary: 1 Stars
I bought two of these bread slicers, one for myself and one for my daughter. We both think they are totally useless. First of all, you'd need a knife over 10 inches long to span across the whole cutter and still stay inside the slots while you're doing the actual cutting. Second, the plastic of the guides sort of catches on the knife blade, preventing a smooth cut. Third, it bounces and slides all over the countertop while you're trying to use it. I gave up and just use a plain old bread knife on a cutting board and get much nicer results. Don't waste your money on this one. I only gave it one star because I couldn't give it zero.
Customer Review: Crow for the Crumb-Catcher Summary: 4 Stars
The slicer works as advertised. It catches most crumbs. But you still have to wipe up the counter after slicing a loaf of bread. The plastic sides seem a bit fragile and sooner or later I just know I'm going to accidently break off one of the slats. I like to use the slicer as a place to cool bread from my machine. It works better than using a separate cake cooling rack. I wish the thing was a bit narrower as I have to hold the bread to one side while slicing. It also means I only have about two inches to slide my bread knife before it comes out of the slicing grooves. These are minor complaints. This is a good slicer.
Customer Review: Do not buy this! Summary: 1 Stars
I had read the other reviews that mentioned what a cheap piece of garbage this is, but ignored them. Well, don't make my mistake and ignore this one. The Norpro 370 is attractive, but as soon as the cheap plastic sides begin snapping off and you slice your fingers on the jagged broken plastic you'll begin to regret its looks. Then the even cheaper balsawood base begins to fall apart, leaving tiny nails sticking out of the sides. If nothing else, buy stock in Band-Aids if you do get this as your fingers will need them. Seriously, this thing isn't worth the postage, never mind the actual cost. Get ANYthing else.
