Customer Review: Good Idea...Needs a little tweaking.

This is a great product and the answer to making great tortilla bowls for your taco salads.
However,the position of the handles makes it very difficult to dip it into the hot oil no matter what size pan or deep fryer you use. This makes for a lot of needed flipping and uneven browning. The longer, inner basket whould have been mesh or perforated instead of slotted. The tortilla shell, when inserted, makes wavy sides and when browned and when you try to release it from the form, these areas get stuck in the slots and you end up with a damaged taco bowl. Otherwise, Great concept, sturdy product.

6.25" Inside basket diameter, 6.5" outside basket diameter. Fry Tortillas with ease.You won't have to eat out to enjoy a taco salad if you include this traditional tool in your kitchen. Simply drape an 8-inch softened tortilla over the upside-down inner basket, place the outer basket on top, flip over the baskets, and plunge the tortilla into a deep-fat fryer. Within 30 seconds, you'll have a crisp, fried, 6-inch tortilla to hold the taco salad of your choice--or dips, salsas, and guacamole. The fry baskets have stay-cool wood handles, so they should be hand washed and their handles wiped with a damp cloth.
