I used mine for 2 months and it cracked - split! - down the side! I spent way too much for a product that lasted so short of a period of time. I am so disappointed and I can't return it for full price because it's after 30 days...RIDICULOUS! How could this happen from organic debris? Defective or simply junky. Way too much money for such a short life span. Really...wouldn't any airtight container work just as well? And you won't have to buy charcoal inserts all the time!Customer Review: HUH?

$40 (on sale) for a container that comes with holes in the lid, designed specifically so you have to keep buying charcoal filters forever. Does that really make sense?
Spend $15 for a stainless steel cannister (or less for a plastic one) with a sealing lid. It will last for decades and--what a concept!--seals odors in for free. (Okay, it won't have that cute little bail handle. Isn't $25 a bit steep for a cute little handle?)
If it smells, EMPTY IT!

We've been using ours for about a month now, to store up compostable material before we take it to our outside compost bins (we're using a Biostacks for that), and it works great! For those of you, like me, that can't stand any kind of gross odors in the house... fear not... the charcoal filter works very well indeed. Looks wise it also blends in very nicely with our stainless steel kitchen appliances, but I think it would look great with practically any kitchen decor.Customer Review: Still no smell after 1 year

I was looking for replacement filters after realizing that it has been 1 year (of heavy use) and I still haven't needed to replace the filters. Our family of 5 fills this up about 2 times per week but we compost just about anything we can! I have a great ComposTumbler outside that I can easily dump into from my Norpro 94 and turn 3 times. This saves at least 3 trips outside everyday to compost. My veggies this year are going to be outstanding! Worth every penny!Customer Review: Good Item, Does Its Job

I bought this for the kitchen and it functions exactly as it should. The steel does not feel flimsy and the cover fits well, and the charcoal filter in the top seems to work. Its the right size for a couple days in our household so it forces us to empty it regularly instead of letting it sit too long. I have not noticed flies like the one-star reviewer, maybe its something particular to her situation. Best of all, it looks at home in a contemporary kitchen.
