This compost keeper is very durable. I actually bought it after reading reviews on other canisters that people weren't as happy with. This one has held up nicely. There is absolutely no smell. It holds more than I would have thought - at least a week's worth of stuff (and we cook a lot). It looks great on the counter, with the small exception that stainless steel does show fingerprints and smudges, but this canister is easy to clean. I think it was well worth the the increased cost over inferior models.Customer Review: Just what I needed...

This unit is well build, and things actually fit together quite nicely. Some cheaper unit requires you to push or pull the top to get a tight seal. It is attractive looking, and the stainless steel material also means that you don't have to worry about dropping it (except the mess) and you can also take a soft steel wool and scrape the hell out of if you need to.
P.S I have yet to try this myself, but I know there are special corn-based lining for compost piles - this may make clean up easier.

I was given an outdoor composter bin for the holidays and tired of using the old coffee can indoors before transferring my 'compost' goodies to the large bin outside....so looked up small kitchen composter on-line with Amazon. Liked the looks of Norpro 94, so well, I also purchased one for the creator of my outdoor composter. Found she was also using a can indoors. The well-made attractive stanless steel composter looks so much better and works real well. I, and my friend are real pleased. Thanks.Customer Review: love it

This is a great, no smell, easy to carry, empty, and clean compost container solution. I have not looked in to replacing the charcoal filters. If that is reasonably priced and available, this is a five star item.
EDIT: Yes, we've been using this for a long time now and it IS a five star product. Not because the filters are "reasonably priced and available", but because I found you can wash the filters with dish soap, air dry. and they are good for weeks or months again!

This is a wonderful product. High quality and the odor filter is fabulous... I had onions and garlic in mine and asked my husband to guess what was inside and he said he couldn't smell a thing. Perfect for collecting kitchen scraps without having to take them out to the compost pile daily. It's attractive, light weight, a good capacity for weekly collections (you wouldn't want to keep scraps in your kitchen much longer anyway), and well designed. I would definitely buy this again.
