After we were able to recycle food waste through our waste mgmt company, we started out using just a plastic bowl with a lid to collect the waste. Uck! This is so much easier. I don't think anyone would ever confuse this for a regular canister out on the counter but it doesn't look bad, just functional. Given that our garbage and recycling sit under the sink I'm not sure how anyone would have room for food waste under there too. The lid comes off very easy. And there is no smell. I'd certainly buy it again and recommend it to friends.Customer Review: Very Poor Quality Product

We ordered this stainless steel compost pail as a durable and attractive way to store our compost scraps, replacing the plastic pail we used. On the original unit we received the lid seam split open after only a couple of weeks and had to be returned. Our second unit has now been returned because the can/pail portion of the unit split down the seam. The unit appears attractive, but the lid is not easy to use (Friction is higher than expected). I would not recommend this composter to anyone given the poor quality we have experienced.Customer Review: Practical Compost Keeper

I didn't carefully look at the dimensions before buying this product, and so was surprised at its size when I pulled it out of the box. It was larger than I expected. It's small enough to sit on the counter, but you wouldn't want it any bigger. The lid fits nicely and we have had no oder from the compost scraps. Also, it rises clean very easily after dumping into our outdoor compost pail. With stainless steel, the fingerprints show up on the outside of the pail, so I have to wipe it down from time to time, which is expected.Customer Review: I add water in my compost keeper.

I was excited about getting a compost keeper with a lid. It's actually a little too bit for my household situation (two adults, we rarely get a chance to cook at home). It does not smell (until you open the lid) which is nice. I did start adding a little bit of water at the bottom that way I don't have to wash it as often. This helps with dumping it in our compost pile too and waters the pile. It feels sturdier than the picture on the web site. I was hoping it would come with recommended instructions but it doesn't.Customer Review: great countertop composter

I looked at several different countertop composters before purchasing this one. I wanted something I could put coffee grinds, veggie and fruit peelings, etc. into before transporting to my outside composter; however, I wanted something that looked great as well. This composter fits the bill. It is well made and has a great, clean-looking stainless finish. The charcoal filter in the lid keeps the contents from getting smelly in between trips to my outside composter. Well worth the cost. I am very pleased.
