Customer Review: Works great for small-to-medium composting households

If you (or your spouse) is the type of person that wants to maintain a clean look in the kitchen, this is an excellent choice. I've had one for well over a year and it gets used daily. I have a worm bin in the basement, so this is an convenient way to accumulate and dispose of worm food. When the worm bin is full and when the compost bin gets full, I empty it in the compost bin in the back yard. The handle is handy for carrying the bin around while taking out the trash, returning tools to the basement, etc. (multitasking). My wife likes the clean look and the odor control.
The carbon filters do control the smell. Regarding an earlier comment, I see an occassional fruit fly, but not to the point worthy of a negative review. One of the screws that holds the handle came loose and got lost in either the compost bin or worm bin (I'll find out which at some point), but that's minor. I haven't had to replace the carbon filters yet; I've run the originals through the dishwasher a few times, and they still seem to work.
I used the BioBags with this until the order ran out (see separate review). They aren't needed. I just run this bin through the dishwasher on ocassion. Territorial Seeds has the same product for about $15 more, so the Amazon price is a good value (though I enjoy Territorial Seeds and will continue to shop there).
Overall, this is a good product. It's not only durable, maintainable, and usable on a regular basis (i.e., does the job), it passes muster with the missus, which makes kitchen composting possible. I'd rate it five stars if the price was between $25 and $30.
