Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Norpro 1 Gallon Ceramic Compost Keeper, WhiteCustomer Review: does the job but it's fragile Summary: 3 Stars
We bought the ceramic version because it looks much nicer on the counter. It holds a lot and does not stink up the kitchen so that's all good. However, the little knob on top has broken off twice, and the ceramic is a bit stained. We're wishing we had bought the stainless steel version instead. It wouldn't necessarily look as attractive, but I suspect it would be much more durable.
Customer Review: great but breakable Summary: 3 Stars
The compost keeper was great, until the lid broke when it slid off as I was taking it out to empty, but now it's a lovely vase. The lid never sat down completely in its place. It is also little small for our compost needs, but it was beautiful while it lasted, arrived quickly, and we'll probably purchase another. We'll go for something more durable though, like stainless.
Customer Review: Does the job Summary: 4 Stars
Overall, I am happy with the product. It keeps the compost smell out of the kitchen and is nicer to look at than a bowl of scraps. The only negative I have is that I'm afraid I will break it because it is ceramic. Also on the inside bottom edge of the canister there is a rim, so some food always seems to get stuck inside. It looks nice though and is good for the price.
Customer Review: Pricey yet, extremely functional Summary: 5 Stars
We fill this up in roughly 2 days. It fairly large, cleans easily, solid, and easy on the eye. The handle is a nice feature. It definately contains the smell. I see the extra odor things that line the lid for sale on Amazon. Our original one is still currently in it since Dec. 08. and is doing the job. I think they can now be purchased at Bed Bath and Beyond as well.
Customer Review: Nice looking, but fragile Summary: 4 Stars
This is a good looking composter. It worked well for us for quite a few months. However, it is heavy and the handle is not safe. The kids usually take it to the compost. Today, the handle detached and the composter broke on the walkway. Needs to be redesigned. I'm thinking stainless steel. Don't like the idea of fingerprints. But, better than breaking easily.
