I had a plastic coolwhip container for the longest time, until a friend of mine had one of these. Looks soooo much nicer and holds at least 4 times more, but not huge and out of place. This also keeps the smell out and most of the annoying fruit flies. I wish I could of found it in brushed nickel, to match my kitchen, but still very nice! I would recommend this product. This was purchased as a Christmas gift for my husband. He ran in the den so excited, he had opened the box without realizing it was addressed to me. He loves it and we can not smell anything in the kitchen. It looks nice on the counter compared to what we were using. We have been composting for some time and love this little jar. This turned into a pre Christmas gift and makes composting a little more enjoyable.Customer Review: Don't trust the handle.

This attractive compost pail is very effective at controlling odor and having a convenient receptacle for compost materials in the kitchen makes composting much easier. However the handle cannot be trusted. It will slip off the handle knobs, fall to the floor, shatter into sharp pieces and spill your compost everywhere on your clean kitchen floor. Put up the extra money and buy the stainless steal model.Customer Review: Works Great

This is a wonderful product, it not only works, with no smell if you change the filters as instructed,
(though I find I don't need to change them quite as often as they say to) It also looks nice on the counter.
My only gripe is the Ridiculous price of shipping the extra filters, so order a lot when you do. I ordered only two, and ended up paying more for shipping than the product it self.

Looks nice for counter top. The metal handle hook holds on to ceramic posts I hope wont break off, only time will tell. Nice counter top piece for small things. I will probably still buy a larger plastic one to put under the sink.
12-01-08 Still going strong, posts work fine. I did not buy a larger one as it holds more then I thought it would, on days I have alot I just run it out in a bowl.
