Customer Review: Fruit draws fruit flies, not a composter

I've had this for more than a year since starting my own compost heap. I have no complaints at all about this, keeps all odors contained, simple to clean, I haven't found the handle "clunky" at all, and when we did have a fruit fly outbreak it was because we had old fruit, not this...in fact I think this thing helped with the problem because the fruitflies went to the fruit inside which could then be removed. All in all a good product, helps us to feel good about composting and it looks great in red on the counter.Customer Review: Kitchen composting

Excellent product that surpassed my expectations. With just the two of us working a lot, not cooking every day and not producing enough scraps to empty daily, I was worried that it might smell or even possibly draw insects, but those were baseless concerns and it measures up to the job because of the filters in the top. I highly recommend this product because now we don't have smelly mixed kitchen garbage, the crock emits no odor and it is easy to keep clean. I have been using this compost keeper on my counter for about a month now. It is perfect for collecting my kitchen stuff for the compost bin and it looks nice too. It cleans very easily and does not stain. (I put a lot of coffee grounds and tea bags in it). The handle seems pretty sturdy to me. It has never come off and I have no problems carrying the full container outside with no accidents. I have not yet had to put a new filter in the lid, but I do empty it daily. This ceramic kitchen crock is just what I needed. It blends in nicely with my semi-white kitchen and it sits on the counter awaiting for me to feed it kitchen scraps to be later transferred to my outside composter. I am careful when taking it to the composter to empty or to wash in sink, because it is ceramic. I find it that it is sturdy, but i don't hold it by the handles, just in case it comes loose. It's a great product....but obviously breakable...it's ceramic. So, I am just careful.Customer Review: Cheap and poor design

As other reviewers have said, the composter draws fruit flies like there's no tomorrow. Also, my house guest picked up the lid to place it on top of the bucket, grazed the handle on the side of the container, and the lid cracked in two places. Now it is unusable. Actually, I'll be returning it because that is pathetic. I had the thing on my counter for about an hour. It is not durable at all. Very cheap ceramic. It does look very cute on the counter, though... Big disappointment...
