Customer Review: cooks perfect white rice

This item is perfect for those of us who either: 1) don't eat rice often enough to merit a dedicated rice cooker small appliance, or 2) eat rice a lot but have a tiny kitchen or apartment. And rice just doesn't come out the same cooked on the stove, y'know?
I was pleasantly surprised by how perfectly the white rice came out, exactly as it would in a real rice cooker. I cooked my rice on high for 10 minutes, since my microwave has no medium setting. I didn't bother measuring out 1 cup of rice and 1.5 cups of water. I eyeballed a cup and then followed the rule of thumb of the water line being twice the height of the rice line (that is, the water line is where the rice line would be if you doubled the rice quantity).
The rice-water residue does tend to come out the vents in the lid. I didn't have a problem with it making a mess in the microwave, though. The indented area on the lid was sufficient to contain it all. Another minor detail that I noticed is that sometimes the lid needs help snapping shut all the way. The portions of the lid with the handles are no problem, but the portions of the perimeter of the lid furthest from the handles seem to need an extra push occasionally to seal the container properly. It's no big deal; it takes an extra...what, 2 seconds? to make sure that the lid's on securely.
I haven't tried cooking brown rice in it yet, so I can't say how it'll do with it.
I like this rice cooker a lot. It's really convenient, fast, economically priced, and cooks white rice to perfection.
