The Nordic Ware Microwave Plate Cover looked good online and had generally high ratings. So, I went ahead and ordered one. It arrived promptly, thanks to the advantages of Prime Membership. The packaging, although sparse, was in good shape; i.e., no shipping damage. But, when I opened the package and took the item out, I was quite disappointed. The cover seemed to have been made very poorly. There were manufacturing defects that looked like dimples, or raised ribs, that were obviously not part of the design. There were two cracks in the cover, one running radially out from the steam vent hole on top of the plate, and another along the bottom rib. And, there were scratches on a few places on the outside of the plate. It all suggested to me a poorly made part that was also damaged during handling. It's possible that I got a bad sample of a high-quality product. The other, positive, reviews would seem to suggest that. No matter, I am planning to return the item and buy something from a local store.Customer Review: Excellent solution to keeping your microwave clean!

I was very glad to see this offered on Amazon and at such a great price! I hadn't seen one of these in 20 years and had completely forgotten about this neat little cover. My microwave plate cover shipped out immediately and arrived in perfect condition. I tried it over my Oneida casual dinnerware and it fit perfectly, although it was just a fraction of an inch short of covering my China. It also fit perfectly over my bowls, although my bowls are wide and deep.
My family does a terrible job of covering their food in the microwave and I often have to scrub it clean to get the dried, splattered pasta off the top and sides of our microwave. This convenient cover washes up nicely in the dishwasher and stores in the microwave for the next user, while my microwave stays clean!
This is one of my favorite kitchen gadgets and I highly recommend this to anyone who uses their microwave often.

Wife bought this a long time ago.
I still not sure about the usefulness of this thing.
One of the main reasons you use this is to prevent your microwave from getting dirty from splattering when you heat your food. Which mean you have to clean this cover instead. Better solution than cleaning the oven itself. But still I find it more convenient to just cover the food with a paper towel. You don't have to clean the paper towel, you just throw it away afterwards.
It is not a one-fits all solution. Sometimes it is not tall enough.
It could have been better if the handle is a knob instead of a hole. The steam can be a bit of a surprise when you get a little careless.
Ours has not cracked yet. I guess that is an indication how very few times it has been used in the household.

I purchased this item based on the reviews. I received mine a few days ago and was instantly disappointed based on a number of things.1. It's too short. Why do most manufacturers make microwave covers like these? What happens with other tallers container like soup bowls or plates with big items like chicken? The cover will touch the food.
2. Why is the cover tinted? The microwave door is already tinted so the extra tinting renders your view of the items inside the cover close to nill. Clear or frosted microwave covers are better.
3. The manufacturing quality is poor. I got the product full of scratches and cracks all over. There was even one long scratch on one side. The plastic sides was not smooth.
Overall, it is not a good product and I would advise looking for something else much taller in height and with better manufacturing quality.

We lived in Europe for many years and had a dish cover similar to this. After many years of use, we needed a replacement.When I received this, I was pleasantly surprised. One can see clearly through this and it fits standard dinner plates beautifully.
If you are still using plastic wrap, wax paper, or paper towels to cover your cooking / reheating items, then you are truly doing things the hard way!
If you are not covering your microwave cooking / reheating at all, then you just LOVE CLEANING NASTY MESSES!
I was so impressed, I bought one for each of my sisters-in-law, my parents, and my single brother. They are still talking about the greatest, and most useful Christmas present 6 months later!
I highly recommend this. It saves the cleaning time... It saves you from finger burns when pulling your other covers off the cooking...
