Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Nordic Ware 64802 Microwave Egg Boiler

Customer Review: Easiest boiled egg youll never boil!
Summary: 5 Stars

I really like this egg cooker!
Its so simple! Put in water, put in eggs ( I find fat end down works best ) put on the top & set it for your desired timing.
Two things:
1. I had to break a few eggs to get it right but I finally found the right time for my microwave & my taste.
2. I think a microwave with a turntable probably works best as it does with mostly all microwave foods.
AND, & this is a BIG AND, peeling these eggs is far easier than boiled in a pot eggs.
I suggest anyone who has a problem with this egg cooker to keep at it until you get it right. ( which should take about 3 to 4 times )
This is the fastest, easiest & most consistent egg cooker Ive seen.
By the way, I got mine at the Wal of Mart for around $5...

Customer Review: Ridiculously easy to make hard boiled eggs
Summary: 5 Stars

I can't believe I bought this, yet here I am, about to rave about this product. A little about me, I have minimal cooking skills, minimal patience, and minimal love of washing cooking pots. Enter, the Nordic Ware Microwave Egg Cooker. In my 1000 watt microwave, it takes this cooker 9 minutes to get my eggs to hard cooked consistency. I really like that I don't have to pay attention to it, and to clean the egg cooker, I just give it a quick rinse (on the other hand, when I made hard boiled eggs in a pot I always felt like I had to thoroughly clean the pot... I don't feel like I have to with this Nordic Ware cooker).

Hard boiled eggs are a great source of protein for me, and they're always great in egg salad. This cooker lets me make them quickly and easily.

Customer Review: Don't use when you're hungry
Summary: 2 Stars

OK, I'll be the lone voice of dissent for this product. I think the design wasn't well thought out. After you cook the egg(s), you can't use over mitts to twist open the top because it's very round and very smooth and oven mitts don't provide enough traction. I ended up putting on rubber gloves so I could get a decent grip (bear in mind it is very hot inside). After many minutes, I managed to separate the top from the bottom to retrieve my cooked eggs. The recommended times in the instruction pamphlet were way off; the soft-boiled eggs I was looking forward to turned out to be hard-boiled. I will grant that cooking times are usually trial-and-error; it's just the design that I have a problem with. Really, an egg cooker doesn't have to take the form of an egg!

Customer Review: Easy and quick eggs
Summary: 5 Stars

I love hard-boiled eggs, but I never cook them because I'm too lazy to boil water just for eggs. I had another Nordic Ware product that made egg patties in the microwave (which rocks), so I figured I'd give this a shot. It works great and I have no complaints. I'm very pleased.

Pros:
Fast
Easy
Cooks thoroughly

Cons:
Can be very hot, recommend using potholders to remove from microwave
Because every microwave is different, it may take a few tries to get the cook times down

Like others have said, beware of the heat of this thing when it's done, and it takes a few tries to get the time right according to your microwave. These things really aren't a big deal, and definitely not a deal breaker.

Customer Review: Perfect
Summary: 5 Stars

The Nordic egg cooker is a perfect complement to any kitchen. In my microwave, which is a new model with 1300 watts, it takes 6:30 minutes for a cold egg and 6:00 minutes for a room temperature egg to reach hard boiled. The people that talk about eggs "exploding" are probably using extra large or jumbo eggs. I suggest using large or medium eggs. Make sure they do not touch each other or the sides of the metal top, and there will be no problem. I cook four of em, let em sit in the microwave for an hour or so, then remvove as the cooking device has cooled down. Best thing about the cooker,"the eggs ALWAYS peel easily". I bought twelve of them, as Wal-Mart where I live quit carrying them, and they make great little appreciation gifts when you visit someone.
