Customer Review: Best on the market and much cheaper than others

I had a microwave popper manufactured by Presto. It was flimsy thin plastic, nearly twice the cost of this one and I had to look all over town for the little paper-and-wire inserts. Plus, it burned a lot of popcorn. I found this one online and since I've been using NordicWare's microwave bacon crisper about twice a week for eight years with no problems, I gave it a try. This is simply the best microwave popper on the market. It requires no inserts. It can be used with or without oil (I use it without). If you time it the way you're supposed to, it will result in far fewer unpopped kernels and little or no burning. If you want to, you can even filter out the unpopped kernels and repop them! It's dishwasher safe and I've been using mine regularly for four years now with minimal wear.
If you want the maximum amount of popped corn, heat it empty in the microwave for about two minutes before adding corn.
All this and it's made in the U.S. by my hard working fellow union members. What's not to like?

I recently purchased this popper and absolutely LOVE IT!!! I enjoy baking carmel popcorn for my family and friends during the holiday season but hated having to use the air popper which took a long time to pop all the the corn I needed for each batch and also because it was difficult to contain some of the corn from popping out of the bowl causing a mess on the kitchen floor. The Nordic Ware Microwave Popcorn Popper works AMAZINGLY well! I truly was a bit skeptical at first that this popper would really pop the corn well but it DOES pop almost every kernel. It is quick and no more popcorn on my kitchen floor! If you are thinking of purchasing this popper, I would encourage you to get it...it is a great product and the price can't be beat. I'm sure you, like me, will be VERY SATISFIED with how great it functions. No more purchasing microwave popcorn for me...this popper pops corn great with or without oil making it also healthier. I bought this popper 3 months ago and it is wonderful. You simply pour in the popcorn, no measurement is necessary, I just cover the bottom. Two or three experiments with how long the time should be will give you perfect results every time. For us, 2 minutes 35 or 40 seconds works best. We used a hot air popper in the past and had to use a towel to keep the popped corn somewhat contained. Not a problem with the Nordic. When done, simply place a hot pad under it and remove from the microwave. The hot air popper really dried the corn out and the taste was very dry. The Nordic does not dry the corn out. When done eating the popped corn, simply wipe out any uncooked kernels into the trash and it is ready to use again. If you want to add butter or salt to the popped corn do so. I don't use butter and it still tastes good. As one of the older reviews said, read the ingredients on a microwave bag of corn and you will order this popper. There is one ingredient--corn. I don't know why big box stores don't carry this product, but it's a great buy on Amazon and the delivery is stellar, so I really don't care that they don't have it.
The first time I used this popper the popcorn turned out great. I just put in a scant 1/2 cup of Orville's plain popping corn, pushed the popcorn button on my micro until it said 3.5 oz, and voila, great popcorn. I didn't use any oil. I actually planned on having to use oil to get some kind of flavor into my popcorn, but this popped up so fluffy that just a little spray of Pam and some popcorn salt were all it needed. I put it in a big paper bag and shook it up and it was great.
I think there's a little piece of metal embedded in the plastic at the bottom that really heats this thing up. I've never heard kernels start popping so quickly.
I wanted a product like this to avoid chemicals used in those bags of corn you buy at the grocery store. I highly recommend this product!

I bought this popcorn popper after reading the reviews and the fact that it's such a good price! I wanted an alternative to a traditional air popper, and this one seemed ideal. I've used it many times in the 3 weeks I've owned it and it's great! Yes the bowl gets hot, so I'd recommended using at least a dish towel to grab the edges. Although there have been times that I've been able to lightly hold onto the lip of the bowl with out protection on my fingers in order to take it out of the microwave. At first I used a tiny bit of oil, but that was only because I was nervous about using nothing. But trust me, it works just fine with kernels only! I usually set my timer for 2-3 minutes, depending on how much I'm making, and stay close to listen to the pops. The standard rule of 2 seconds between pops and you're done, holds true. This bowl pops all but one or two (some times all!) kernels and I have yet to burn a batch. It's so fast and easy, I love it!!
