Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Nordic Ware 60120 Microwaver Popcorn Popper 12 CupCustomer Review: WELL WORTH IT!DONT WASTE MONEY ON AN EXPENSIVE ONE! Summary: 5 Stars
I am soo glad I ignored the negative reveiws because of my tight budget. As a result I got the popper in the mail and watched it VERY carefully as it popped. It never burned so I didnt wait so long that it caused scorching on the plastic. It was a little smokey the first time, so I cooked it for 30 seconds less. WOW! I now make PERFECT popcorn without even adding oil EVERY TIME! Its so great! I am so glad that I didnt get a more expensive one. Just be careful the first time you do it and it will be fine. My microwave is pretty low power and it takes me 3:30 to perfect popcorn. WOW! Tip: for lowest fat popcorn that can still retain salt spray popped popcorn with non-stick cooking spray and salt! SOOO GOOD! Popcorn is a weapon in my weight loss arsenal as I have lost 48 pounds now! Wooo-hoo! Did you know Popcorn is WHOLE GRAIN??? Well this is a quick and healthy way to make it. Save money all the way around by popping your own quickly with this affordable micro popper! U can add it to an amazon order and get free shipping like I did too! So worth it!
God bless u~

Customer Review: Our favorite popper Summary: 5 Stars
Our family loves to eat popcorn in the evenings and this is everyone's favorite method. We usually add about a tablespoon of vegetable oil to the popcorn and it works great. Season it after it pops however you like. We tossed our old stove-top popper (our previous favorite) after using this for a few months. We have had this same popper for several years now with multiple uses per week. We did have one crack a few years ago so we replaced that one, but considering the amount of use this is still an awesome deal. The lid has warped from the heat and doesn't fit perfectly anymore but it still works fine.
Also, for comparison we have a stir crazy popper but don't like it. The kernals end up chewy with the stir crazy, but the nordic ware popper is just the right texture when finished. We did like our old school stove-top popper with the stirring rod, but it was hard to clean and usually looked really nasty so this nordic ware one is better for us. We even prefer the flavor and texture over microwave ready bags, plus it's much cheaper. Winning!
Customer Review: Just replaced my 10+ year old model Summary: 4 Stars
I've had one of these poppers for years and always loved it. After at least 10 years of use the plastic in the bottom started flaking off so I decided it was time for a replacement & tossed it. I bought it yesterday at a local big box store so I could make sure I got one with out any cracks that some people have complained about. When I picked it up off the shelf I thought it felt lighter than the old one, but thought maybe I was imagining things. Tonight I used the new one for the first time I could see light through the plastic while the microwave was running. The old one didn't do that so that answers why it felt lighter than my old one. It does seem to pop as well as the old one so far. Yes there are some unpopped kernels but no more than in a bag of microwave popcorn. Yes the bottom gets hot but I actually like that, keeps the popcorn warm longer. I just put a folded tea towel under it and eat out of the popper. I only hope the new one holds up as long as the old one. It is marked made in the USA on the bottom, so bonus points for that.
Customer Review: BACK TO BASICS Summary: 5 Stars
I'm so glad I went back to this method of popping corn. Years ago when microwaving was new I had something like this and it worked well. Then since newer is always better (hmmmm)I went to hot air. Never really liked that, and had to find a space for it. Then we moved onto popcorn bags we tossed into microwave. Now in my old age I've evolved BACK TO BASICS. DUH!! We're really enjoying this popper. Yes the bowl does get hot. (so I'm prepared). Yes you have to watch and listen for when it's done. I've burnt one time and it did discolor the bottom of the bowl. No biggie. I'm trainable. I did really well buying kernels at WalMart.Name brand jar brand. Also flavor shakers which are delish. Spray popped corn with calorie free cooking spray just a little and shake on flavor so it adheres. Works just fine. I've been telling friends about my new/old discovery. Actually have suggested it to people at the grocery store when I see them in the popcorn aisle. (that's just me..LOL).In this economy this is great way to go. Needless to say a GREENER way of doing it.
Customer Review: Delicious Popcorn Maker! Vegan Friendly! Summary: 5 Stars
The Nordic Ware Popcorn Popper is an incredible value. Unlike other popcorn bowls that are made of plastic, this bowl is made of gemstone and thus doesn't warp, is super easy to clean, and doesn't get greasy. Avoid getting plastic, especially if you use oil/butter, because over time the bowl will remain greasy. The Nordic Ware bowl is easy to use: just measure 1/3-1/2 cup of pocorn kernels, add seasoning such as salt and butter if you wish. Put the lid on, and within four minutes (times will vary depending on your microwave), you have great tasting, natural, delicious fresh popcorn. You can even make kettle corn or other treats like cinnamon popcorn. You just add the seasonings you desire.
For vegans, this is a great way to enjoy popcorn without animal fats or byproducts found in store packaged popcorn. If you still want butter, I recommend Earth Balance, which is a great tasting buttery alternative that is 100% vegan. Add a tablespoon or two in the bowl, and you have great vegan buttered popcorn. Also saves money!
