Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Nonstick 4-Piece Egg/Pancake Ring SetCustomer Review: How anybody can give this a five star Summary: 1 Stars
even a 4 star I have had these for over a year maybe two, hardly use them cause they are such a piece of crap. I don't always want to use four of them, so you have to use tongs to try to lift them up, or burn your fingers. First you need to spray or wipe with oil, you can't just put butter or oil in it it runs out. They call it nonstick just looks like black paint to me which is wearing off and there is no reason for that. You have to hook each ring on a piece of plastic which wobbles (I finally threw the plastic hook away it was useless). The eggs usually leaks underneath that may be something they all do. When you try to lift the rings from the eggs the egg breaks sticking to ring. This is no more than a dollar store item. I hate giving it a bad rating but its design leaves a lot to be desired its no more than a slice of metal cut off a piece of pipe painted black with a spot weld hook. I am going to get the RSVP stainless steel Egg Rings better quality for less money and a handle to lift each individually.
Customer Review: Non-stick? Really? In what way? Summary: 2 Stars
They ARE egg and pancake rings. They do the job ... sort of.
But, to claim that they are in any way "non-stick" is either a sizable stretch of the imagination or outright fraudulent advertising. The coating on these things looks to be simple, hard black enamel paint - no Teflon coating or any other "non-stick" surface. Don't believe the hype. You will need to butter or oil them every time you use them.
The little handle that keeps them all together is a bit flimsy and the rings themselves flop around constantly. That's fine when they are dry to keep them together but when they are hot and your eggs are stuck to them - and they will stick without pre-treatment - the whole contraption becomes quite unwieldy and a bit hazardous to handle and deal with.
Other than that, the price is right. With a little preparation the major pit-falls can be avoided and the objective achieved. Just like the Boy Scout motto says, be prepared.

Customer Review: Very poor design Summary: 1 Stars
I used to have an old pair of basic metal egg rings that worked great. But over time they started to rust and got to the point where I no longer wanted to use them. So I searched here for egg rings and found these. Well, these are absolutely horrible. The rings themselves are flimsy and the coating peels after just a couple of uses. The handle is a piece of plastic that barely has a hold onto the "dock" that the 4 rings hook onto. You can't get any leverage when trying to lift the rings, as they swing left and right quite freely. And forget about using just one or two. Good luck lifting them off the skillet to turn the eggs, especially if the egg sticks at all. I bought these in 2003, and they were in the trash before 2004.
I just ordered these:
Amco Round Egg Rings, Set of 2
These look better than my original old ones that I loved.
We'll see.
Customer Review: Different than McDonald's... Summary: 3 Stars
As a person who used to work for Mickey D's, there are some differences with the tool they use to make Egg McMuffins. Theirs is heavy duty, felt like cast iron. Before cooking, we coated them quite liberally with melted butter, then cracked the eggs into the rings. Next step was to break the yolks with a spatula. Finally, the step that differs most from these rings - we added a heavy lid over them which had an integral little cup with a small hole in the bottom. We would fill the cup with water and the water would seep under the lid, hitting the grill and steaming the eggs to completion.
I haven't used this item, but imagine if you are looking to duplicate the McDonald's process and want to avoid 'egg seepage' you may want to look for a heavier duty set and perhaps find a way to duplicate the lid idea.
Customer Review: Two boys' review: Makes great travel pancakes for little hands Summary: 4 Stars
OK, so these egg/pancake rings aren't exactly cursed but you'd think this product was downright evil after reading some of these reviews.
Perhaps, most people are expecting too much. These rings work and respond best to a gentle cooking hand. I've tried eggs and pancakes both and have had great success. The more I use the rings, the more proficient I've become. HERE'S A TIP: You don't want to overfill the rings. Give it a gentle shake to loosen the pancake from the edges before lifting the rings away.
I like this product because it allows me to produce pancakes that are PERFECTLY SIZED FOR YOUNG CHILDREN. I make a huge batch on Sunday and put enough in the freezer to last the week.
BTW: We've owned the rings for more than a year and the NONSTICK SURFACE is holding up well.
