I love this little kitchen gadget! It's very easy to use and lives up to its claims.
I use the flat side of the garlic twist to bash the garlic clove on the counter or cutting board and the peel comes right off. Then I bash it again a little harder to flatten and crush it a bit (this makes the initial twisting easier). I then put the clove (I've put as many as 6 in there at once, but it all depends on the size of your cloves) into the twist and twist until it's the consistency that I want. Twist for just a little while for lightly minced or twist for quite a while for finely minced or garlic paste. I can mostly get the little triangles of garlic at the end that you can just put into your pan, dish, or whatever you are using the garlic for. I usually just tap it or shake it and they fall out, or you can use a utensil, a table knife works well to ease it out of the garlic twist. If all of the garlic doesn't want to come out then I just put a little water in there to loosen the garlic and then put the rest, garlic and water into my pan. Cleaning, I always run mine through my dishwasher on the top rack (I don't hand wash anything) and it's still great! You'll get a little cloudiness in the clear plastic since it's plastic after all, but overall no cracks or issues with running it through the dishwasher, very durable. I actually accidentally dropped one half of mine on the tile floor from the counter height and it even survived that just fine, not a mark on it. Also it's small enough to easily store in a kitchen drawer or cabinet. Small handy, easy, and your hands don't smell like garlic for a day either. I highly recommend this product!
I originally purchased mine at a local kitchen store and when I went back to purchase more for family and friends that wanted one after they saw mine I found out that they no longer carry them. So I came here to purchase them. They'll make great stocking stuffers. I truly love mine so if ever I did need a new one, I will definitely replace mine and buy myself a new garlic twist... ;)
