Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Nesco CR-1010-PRR Coffee Bean Roaster, 800 watt

Customer Review: Great Coffee Roaster
Summary: 5 Stars

I have had this roaster for over two months. It works great. I used to use an air popcorn popper and I like this so much more. There is no smoke and the smell of freshly roasted coffee is wonderful. I use it 3 to 7 times a week; usually only one time per day. I read the directions and clean it after each use, I don't overfill it, and I let it cool down for hours afterward. I think if you treat it well it will work well and not break.

Customer Review: Nice tool for coffee lovers..!!!!
Summary: 4 Stars

Coffee enthusiasts can enjoy this roster at home. Very easy to use, it's really smokeless. Like any roasting device, if dark roasting is set like dark city roast, do not leave it unattended, it could catch fire. Quite reliable, this is my second unit, my first one lastest 3 years aprox., and I admitted that it broke because of my fault. Still happy with this product and ended up buying same one again.

Customer Review: Nesco Coffee Bean Roaster
Summary: 2 Stars

The Nesco roaster (formerly called Zach & Danni's) is a reasonably priced roaster which unfortunately doesn't hold up well. I have two machines (one is a replacement for a machine that couldn't be repaired) All told in the past three years I have sent machines back to the factory to be repaired more than four times. Very expensive. I should have bought a better machine to start with.

Customer Review: fire hazard
Summary: 1 Stars

My wife bought me one of these for my birthday last year. Before that, I was using hot-air poppers to roast coffee. This one worked well for about 10 months, but then, without warning, the agitator stopped working one day in the middle of a roast, and the beans caught fire. This design is much more dangerous than hot-air type roasters, which use the hot air itself to agitate the beans.

We have used a Zack & Dani's similar roaster for several years with the only problem being the drive belt failed due to heat fatique. Apparently Zack & Dani bought their proprietary roaster from Nesco. So far we like the Nesco very much, it is basically the same as the Zack & Dani machine with a few improvements; we have only roasted a couple of batches of beans but so far so good.
