Customer Review: Indispensable product to make jerky

I can't imagine making jerky without this beef jerky gun. I used to hand roll the ground meat and press it into thin non uniform slabs that took me forever and was really messy. This jerky gun allows me to effortlessly squeeze out uniform strips. I'd like to give this product 5 stars as it's very inexpensive and great but there are a couple of issues that are not insignificant.
Pros
-Easy to use: very easy to load
-Easy to clean: you can get inside the chamber with a sponge with minimal effort
-Effective: easy to squeeze out the jerky meat from the chamber onto your dehydrator tray with minimal effort
-Large: I prepared 3 lbs of jerky and only needed to fill 4 times (I find it's easier if you fill the chamber 80 to 90% full and leave a little bit of room at the top)
Cons
-Sharp metal: I don't know what this part of the jerky gun is but it's the metal part that presses forward as you pull the trigger that pushes the meat forward. It's very effective in the chamber but be very careful when you take it out to wash. I was lightly washing it and I cut my fingertips fairly badly. You just don't expect that part to be as sharp as a knife and I don't think it needs to be - I wish there had been a sticker warning me how sharp it was and to handle like a knife. It felt like I had cut my fingertips with a razor blade
-Quality: So far it's fine but the quality seems just so so. However it's only $15 (and that includes 8 packets of seasoning and curing salt) so I'll just order another one when this one breaks.
However, I'd like to emphasize again I LOVE this product and would order again in a heartbeat. If it wasn't for the safety concern I have (I would never let a child handle this without the metal inside the chamber) I'd give this product 5 stars. Great value for the money and does everything it says it's supposed to do and the spices are such a nice bonus.

This complete kit provides the tools needed for making great-tasting jerky at home in about four hours. Save money over store bought jerky and make it the way you like it. The large jerky gun features a stainless-steel trigger, a ratchet bar, and a see-through meat chamber that can hold over a pound of ground meat, spend more time making jerky and less time filling cylinder. This will yield approximately a half pound of jerky after dehydration. Choose from three attachments to create jerky strips, sticks, or double strips.
