I bought the FD 75PR dehydrator after quite a bit of researching cost vs features. Everyone said that you had better get more shelves so I did. I read one review that said that the ones that are "for" this machine were more expensive, and other shelves would work, too, and they were cheaper. I ended up buying the one that is made for the machine and am happy I did. Turns out that the dehydrator sits on the counter quite a bit since I use it often. I can see that what I paid extra for is that it is the same color as the machine shelves. They are a white opaque color, and other shelves come in a dark brown color. Both colors work functionally the same. But since I have the machine sitting out on my counter all the time, it would look kind of funky to have different colored shelves. By being all the same, I am not having to explain to people why the shelves are different. So I'm glad I spent the extra couple of dollars to get the shelves that are made for my machine.
