This dehydrator is exactly as advertised, easy to use, pretty quite and easy clean up. The Jerky gun and seasoning were an added bonus - never even thought of making jerky with lean ground meat. This jerky gun is like a cookie shooter, just makes the jerky flat or in round tubes. I have only used the flat strips, have zero complaints. My husband took a batch of jerky made from lean ground beef on his dove hunt, they could not believe it was ground beef - they loved it. I have also used the dehydrator for apples, garlic and onions - all turned out well.Customer Review: Dehydrator with jerky gun

Oh my gosh ... the jerky is the best ever. My family and friends say "keep making it", and it makes the house smell delicious as it is drying. I haven't used the dehydrator for fruits or vegetables yet, but wouldn't mind just using it for jerky. I used ground turkey and the original seasoning mix, I can't believe how easy it is. One pound made about 30 pieces of jerky, and it only took about 5-6 hours to dehydrate. It does put out a bit of heat while running, and it does make a low noise. All is all this is fantastic, so glad I tried it.Customer Review: Use it every day

My husband and I wanted a dehydrator to help us eat better. We have tried drying all kinds of fruit, vegies, and meat. Our favorite is golden delicious apples. We dry them extra crisp so they come out like round chips. We are addicted to them and so is our friends, family and co-workers. I plan on drying some more and giving them away as christmas presents for my co-workers. We like them so much that we use the dehydrator daily. We bought the dehydrator almost a year ago and it is still in great shape even with all the abuse and usage.Customer Review: Healthy zucchini chips

My Jenny Craig consultant recommended any good dehydrator so I could make zucchini chips to eat with salsa - count as free food on the plan. I looked up reviews for all sorts of dehydrators and the most consistent ones came for this Nesco. I tried different thicknesses of zucchini to see which would work best as chip, and it was about 1/4-1/3 of an inch. I sprinkled Mrs. Dash Extra spicy on some and Lime Fiesta on others before drying, and they are good, and stay fresh for a while if sealed. I bought this for my wife to dehydrate fruits for the kids. I bought the version with the jerky maker kit because I thought it might be cool.
I tried the jerky with the seasoning kit they include and the "caulk gun" like dispenser and it was fantastic.
There are plenty of jerky spice makers out there that are cheaper than Nesco but I havent tried them yet.
I has tried one that was not heated before buying this and in Texas it is worthless! Heat is the way to go to get quick results.
