Great product. Very easy to use and clean up. The dehydrator I would rate 5 stars. The jerky maker is the problem. Using the ribbon attachment it seems to work fine, but sometimes the end will pop off when extruding the jerky. I put pressure on it from both ends to hold it together. Using the round attachments I can't keep the thing together as the ends just pop off. It needs much bigger threads considering the pressure it is under. Still it is useable and the end product is delicious.
We have made many batches of jerky. Fruit leathers and dried fruit are also a family favorite. Using fruit from the supermarket it is hard to save money however. I think it is cheaper to buy the store bought dried fruit. Once summer comes around and we can get it locally I am sure that will change.

I have purchased two of these...one for my husband and one for my son-in-law. My husband uses it at least monthly to make beef jerky. My son-in-law now wants one so he will be getting his soon for his birthday. The jerky attachments work good and the dehydrator works just as expected. Nesco is a reliable company if there is a problem. Our first unit arrived missing the jerky gun. I called the 1-800 number provided and they sent one out to me immediately. The second unit arrived complete. This summer I plan on trying the unit to dehydrate fruit and herbs. This was a good purchase...my husband is happy and I am happy that he can make himself a healthy snack that he really enjoys! I would absolutley recommend this product.Customer Review: Very satisfied

I'm very happy with the FD-61WHC Snackmaster. I have used it extensively since I got it for a wide variety of foods. I haven't done any jerky yet because I don't really eat meat so it's not a top priority. I have done herbs, veggies, and fruits, and they have all been excellent. Times are usually faster than the book suggests. I was worried about the heat it puts off since I live in a hot area, but it hasn't been a problem. It's the perfect size for me and a good value for the money, especially with the accessories. I belong to a Yahoo group on preserving that has given me tons of ideas for using my new toy.Customer Review: Great Product

We bought this product to make treats for our dogs because they LOVE the Chicken treats that are sold in many stores here in the states. The problem we have with the "Sold" treats is that they are made in China, and after one of our dogs became termainly ill with an UNKNOWN reason, we think that it may have been those treats? I always wondered why....Do we inport chicken treats for dogs into the US when we consume Chickens every day of our lives in one why or another, so WHY do we inport Chicken treats for dogs? This dehydrator works great. I have made jerky three times in one month and it has performed well everytime. Quick drying time, 3-4 hours. I have only used ground beef and the gun so far but I am very pleased. Would recommend very highly.The only thing I was confused about is there is no on and off switch. You have to unplug it while it is still running. Being an electrician I find this to be a bad habit, but I understand other dehydrators are the same way. Regardless this is a great price, and product. The shipping was great as well, received it in a couple of days.
