My folks have a party every year Labor Day weekend which always includes lots of clams. Last year my Dad had two clam knives out for those who like them raw. One was so old, rusty, and chipped that it was embarassing! The other, while much newer, just didn't work very well because it's leading edge was too thick. I read the reviews of those available at Amazon and ordered this knive for him and had it delivered to their place before this year's party. He called me and said "I don't know if I should be grateful or mad" and "I can't believe you spent so much... they use to give these things away". Well the good old rusty knife may have been a freebie back in his clam steam days but this knive was just the ticket. It was almost identical in size and shape to his oldie and the leading edge was thin. A real winner! Made shucking a real breeze! I would highly recommend this knife! And no, I do not work for the company :)
