I enjoy baking pies, but the edge of the pie crust would always be very hard compared to the rest of pie. The packaged pie crust that I buy suggests covering the edge of the pie with aluminum foil. After trying this and becoming extremely frustrated every time, I was determined to find a better way. Without even knowing that such a thing existed, I came to Amazon.com and searched for a pie crust shield. To my surprise, they did exist and I could buy one from Amazon.
Since buying this product, I have used it every time I needed to bake a pie and they have all come out great. It is much easier than using foil and produces more consistent results.
At first glance, it seem kind of flimsy, but it performs well. Just be careful where you store it, because it could easily get bent out of shape if something heavy were set on top of it.
