Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of Mr. Coffee TM3 Iced Tea MakerCustomer Review: Love Mr.Coffee Iced Tea makers - I've owned several Summary: 5 Stars
The first 2 I owned were the 2 qt models that the tea basket set inside the pitcher - loved them but I didn't like the fact that so much of the pitcher was empty after removing the basket and I wanted the 3 qt (I drink lots of tea). I bought this model for myself about 4 years ago and it is still working great - I am going to buy another because I don't like the new model that I have seen in the local stores and I want a backup just in case this one does quit on me. You can keep the basket white by rinsing between uses by hand (don't use dishwasher because of the heat will bake the stain onto the plastic) and then soak in super concentrated hot water and cascade crystals mixture once a month. Mine is still bright white.
Customer Review: Not the pitcher, it's the maker Summary: 2 Stars
We've had two and both died within 6 months in the following way:
The brewer stops after only a quarter of the water is passed through, we have to push the "power" button over and over until we get the full pot. We tried all the different "cleaners" from basic vinegar and water solution to more professional but it doesn't seem that there is any deposits or build up (besides I have a Mr Coffee Coffee maker that has only once in the past 5 years seemed to have much calcium build up). The only conclusion is that there is some sort of timer or other that shorts out.
However two of these in 1 year next to my coffee brewer never failing in 5 leaves me to believe the maker itself is the problem.
Customer Review: The Best Tea Maker Ever Summary: 5 Stars
O.K.,back in 1994, my children (at the time, ages 5 and 8), now (19 and 22), bought me this Mr. Coffee Ice Tea Maker for Mother's Day. By the way ~ I have never tasted coffee in my life, but was and am an Ice Tea fanatic. To add coffee to my life was like adding another 'vice' I couldn't handle. I have now purchased two of these Mr. Coffee-Iced Tea makers on Amazon because and for my 18 year old daughter, who moved out on her own (sniff~sniff) and my daughter-in-law, whom my son married 2 years ago, who really loved the "Iced Tea" I made....so here you have three generations of the Mr Coffee" Iced Tea maker.....and a truly Obsessive family who loves every single pitcher it makes!
Thank you!
Customer Review: Great Tea - but mass defect pitcher! Summary: 3 Stars
I would like to throw my .02 in with everyone else. The Mr. Coffee TM3 makes the best ice tea (I don't bother with any other type - your mileage may vary). The tea bags don't float to the top, like they did in the hamilton Beach piece of junk I bought. The tea will steep some in the brewer, which makes it as strong or weak as you like.
The main problem, as eveyone has pointed out, is the pitcher. It will crack right down the front after about 3-4 months. Go ahead an buy a couple as spares, as it is going to happen. You can write Mr. Coffee till you are blue in the face, but they refuse to do anything about the issue.
So in summary, good tea, crappy design.
Customer Review: not what I was expecting Summary: 1 Stars
I was so depressed when my old tea maker broke that my husband decided to buy me a new one for mother's day. He purchased the exact model and amazingly it is already broken; with the same problems my old one had which had cracked right down the pour spout. Ive tried contacting the company about the pitchers before but was told they were out of them and to contact them again in 6 weeks...whats the point when with shipping it will cost the same as a new one? you cant even find the pitchers in regular stores like Wal-Mart which sold my husband the tea maker in the 1st place. In any case I shall not buy a Mr.Coffee item ever again since the quality has dipped so far down.
